Critics who treat adult as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence.

"H... help me. Please... they're going to kill me..."
Xia heard the faint whisper trickle out of the steel cell that had been rolled in with the rest of them. She had been briefly curious about it, but only assumed that the prisoner inside was severely dangerous and worthy of death for whatever crime they had committed. So, when the soft and fearful words came from the cell's opening, she felt a twinge of unease in her chest. She didn't trust anyone in this damnable prison, much less those in authority.

She stepped forward to as close to the mystically powered barrier separating her from freedom as she could to listen more closely.

The woman in that cell was a murderer. But, the guard was angered, jaded. A simple killer wouldn't have garnered that kind of response, she didn't think. There was only one kind of victim that could make the Administratum wish they could "take their time" in killing them.

    A witch.

Her eyes narrowed. She trusted the woman in the cell about as far as she could throw her, but she trust those bastards even less. She had seen how they threw their authority around in the slums. She lived in fear of them for years. If one was killed, she wasn't about to start shedding any tears. In fact, if anyone could do it, they probably weren't all that bad.

    Maybe.

If they were, she would just kill whoever it was herself.

    "..."

She stepped back slightly and sat down on the floor. Interlocking her fingers together, she closed her eyes and let her mind drift off, purging itself of all thought. She was unsure of her immediate future, but that was no excuse to be ill-prepared. Especially if her worst fears came to fruition and she needed to fight her way out.

When the Coffin is rapped, the only response is a panicked cry.

    "----!"

Only for the mewling that followed the heart-wrenching peal to stop short, after her cage entered her cell and the magical barrier went up. A response to the guards was not forthcoming. The only sound now trickling out from that single slight opening the ragged breathing of the forlorn maiden... and then came the sound of chains. A soft clinking that swelled into a persistent rattle.

The girl was... attempting to break free? Or at the very least give everyone a headache, with this feeble act of defiance.
Yeah, but if you... man, we're getting into weird analogy territory, like if you disintegrated Superman's arms he wouldn't be able to go "fool! Little did you know that my arms and I are one and can be remade from me!" and will his arms back into being from pure nothingness. - Pendaran

Matthias looked up as the sounds grew louder. Slowly standing up, he walked to the front of his cell and looked out. It was hard to make out distinct words among all the other sounds, but this sound stood out.

Reluctant as he was to use his more advanced talents in a place frequented by Witches, he made the conscious choice to take the risk. In an attempt to seek out the source of the sound, he opened his senses to the ebb and flow of the energies within this prison. Pushing aside those he deemed average, he sought out the Hot Spots, places where the energy radiated higher than normal.

As he had sat on his bench prior to this moment, he had attempted to solve the problem of being locked within. But now he set that aside to see what was occurring within the prison's walls.

The rush through the streets after the announcement seemed to swell up here, of all places. Was this some kind of open-air venue...? Or was it a chokepoint at a fixed entrance?

Whatever the case, if it happened to draw a crowd, even here in slumtown under the watchful eye of the Administratum, that's where the action is.

"Fuh-fuh-fuh," Kinu sighed, the puffs of air lowered in pitch within the hollow of her mask. It was getting difficult to breathe. The smog and grime within the walls of this gilded Shangri-la was the first difference she'd noticed, but the way the filth clung to her in the rank, humid air, doubtless it had muted part of her majestic frame in dusty grey.

Whatever's going down is across that bridge.

In the misery of squalor, it was easy to spot a standout. Kinu saw a streak of red cut around the crowd, winding between bodies. Interesting. Perhaps that's my way backstage.

As the massed continued to gather, the Warrior of the Wasteland bunched her sopping coat over he shoulders, slowly pushing through the crowd a step behind as she pursued her quarry at ground level.

Jacob sighs as the sounds grew louder. ( That person in that cell better pipe down. The guards here obviously don't give a ****. People like us in these cells are nothing but vermin to the Administratum, especially us who have a checkered past,) Jacob thought.

( None of us in here in these cells basically have any rights in this place. These guards can do whatever the hell they wanted with us, and it would be justified under the Administratum's authority. Doesn't make it right, but that's just how **** is,) Jacob thought.

The guard led him to the cell and give him a curtsy push inside.
"Sure," he said to the guard after taking a deep breath to resist the urges to correct the guard or make a shining beacon out of him. "That shouldn't be a problem at all."

Though none of his escort could see it, a faint smile began to form on Lucifer's face as he continued.

"Just, could you call someone to let Mr. Radiare know that he should probably go ahead and leave without me. If I'm not mistaken, he was one of the first ones off the ship and while I'm sure the debriefing won't take too long, I hear he has data on him critical to the special project LuxWeave was working on for the Administratum- so I don't want to hold him up any more than absolutely necessary. After all, that could be seen as messing with Magi business- and I wouldn't want to do that. Would you?"

It was a moment or three after the guards brought Lucifer to and inside the cell and left that he began to look for a place he could at least try to take a nap until the debriefing started- or preferably, ended. Perhaps somewhere close to the one with the guitar, Lucifer thought, the song being played thoroughly unfamiliar to him yet somewhat resonant with tunes that he could recall.

But before he could make a move, the sudden sound of something rather large hitting the floor caught him offguard, causing him to nearly Evanesce and scatter before remembering that here's not exactly the best place for that. Instead, he turned and almost recoiled, what his eyes were telling him about the floor making him sympathetic towards the one currently lying upon it.

"It's probably not a good idea to lay on that for, well, any period of time," Lucifer said as he approached the young woman that was evidently the (unwilling) source of the sudden sound. "You can absolutely trust me on that. Would you like some assistance to your feet?"

The implications were far more painful than being manhandled, her jaws clenched as teeth were firmly gritted as her fingernails dug into the unknown substance.

    It was just like then...

The unknown memory surged to the surface of her consciousness, not quite emerging by pressing up enough for her to make up sights, smells, and emotions that were horrifyingly familiar.

    "T͊͋͒̄ͧ͏̻͈̥̙̳̖̝̺̳̼͕̗̗͈̭̺͡E̪̜̻̤̱̥̐ͭ̊̑͊ͧͯ̆̈́̔ͪ̓ͩ͆̆ͣ͘͜ ̝͉̬̞͓̭̫̗̰̠Ķ̨̧̡̰̺̟̥̬̤̦̳̼͒̽͗͗͂̔́͐͒̈́ͣ͒ͬ.̡͊ͩ͑̽́̌ͦ̈́ͤ̆͒ ̵̢̖̮̫̬͇̻͇̝͉͉̲̤͉̳͢͞.̴̴͉̻͇̦͎̣ͩ̃ͦ͊̏̇̇̌̎͘͢.̏ͯ̈́ͮ̎̌̿̌ͬͥͦ ̢̙̙͉͈̜̳͓͍͙̲̆ͤ̿ͦͪͦ̚͘"

She could feel something watching, waiting for her to finish that one word, but by then, her senses had begun to return. The poisonous hatred was replaced by overwhelming grief, the girl choking back on her sobs, stifling her sorrow as she understood that tears would not solve her problems this time.

The sudden whirlwind of emotions was taking its toll as Lucifer would be greeted by a visibly exhaust countenance, "... thank you." She said, her voice barely a whisper as she reached out and shakingly rose to her feet.

The steam of civilians crossing the bridge continues unabated even in the time it takes Owen to make was way up. Ahead of him....he picks up the feint sense of magic, coming from a red haired woman near the end of the terminal end of the bridge. She is speaking with several men who are idling just off to the side of the column of survivors. She makes a motion with her hands and then proceeds further into the terminal area with several of the men following.

...there is also a cloaked woman following after her, though its difficult to get any details. Perhaps a witch....or something close.....

There were also several more "unassuming" civilians loitering on the bridge in small groups. Perhaps waiting for family or friends.....

Along the bridge he was there. Just to see who was there, too late to have seen the conspiracy take place. So far did not see her, or the boy. He had wondered what happed to the city really. He kept his senses sharp though.

He was navigating through the crowds unhindered while keeping hands concealed in his sleeves, while along path near the other cast members, not yet in on the deal.

The man twitches his nose again. ".....damn I'm itchy.....Ya never notice til you got nothing to scratch with.......So, They speaking truth....you kill a witch?" The man eyes her cage with a side glance.
