I don't care what people say, he made Superman cool again.
There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

Agreed. I have never been a fan of Superman, but I dig that run.

I am a fan of Superman. I get why his run draws hate, but I think Byrne's run one of the greats, and the medicine the times needed.

Now, I'm headed to the fallout shelter before the Superman Forum members find this thread

I read the Marvel The Lost Generation this past weekend. Great stuff. Byrne was drawing Avengers West Coast when I started collecting comics. He's been one of my favorite creators since then.

He had some really great runs. His Fantastic Four is still a good read today. He's from that age when there was a lot of multi-tasking. There were issues of the FF when he wrote, did the art and also answered the letters pages. A couple of issues I think he did the lettering too! I think he did all the annuals too.

I think his FF story in issue #236, Terror in a Tiny Town, would make for a great intro of the team for the MCU. It could account for the FF, and Doom's absence in the MCU un until now.

IMO, there are three eras of Fantastic Four. Kirby+Lee, Byrne, and all the rest of those guys.

I've been in a Charlton Comics Western phase for over a year now so when I think of Byrne it's always Doomsday +1. I've got most of them but I need a couple more and then I'm looking forward to reading it. He's one of the greats.
Beefing up the old home security, huh?
    You bet yer ass.
