Best 80s Comic Book Run

How would you rank these 80s Marvel runs ?

The only two I revisit are Simonson's Thor and Miller's Daredevil. The rest have either lost their appeal to me or never appealed to me to begin with.

Runs I would add

-Stern's Doctor Strange
-Starlin's Metamorphosis Odyssey/Dreadstar (if you are including the Epic imprint)
-Doug Moench's Master of Kubg Fu (continued into the early 80s after starting in the 70s)

Possibly Miller just because of what he did to the character and the road he went down with him.

I’d also add Moench on Moon Knight...a little underrrated run if you ask me.

Loved simon furman's run on transformers also. Larry hama's gijoe run had some great stories also for over 155 issues.

The 80s really were great for Marvel. Having to pick one, I had to say FF. There were other good runs on the title, but Byrne's is the only one that belongs atop the pedestal alongside Kirby and Lee's.

Claremont's X-Men. Comics don't get better than that.

I was going to vote Claremont's X-men also(highest marks possible).

But if we are only including '80s runs, we are really talking 132-on(so Hellfire Club/Dark Phoenix forward). With that criteria, I ended up voting for Byrne's Fantastic Four(my favorite FF run).

When it comes to my favourites (as opposed to the best... I wouldn't know how to judge that) of the voteable options, I'm torn between Simonson's Thor and Claremont's X-Men. I think X-Men, as brilliant as it is, is hampered by Claremont staying on too long; Simonson ended on a good note with the big Thor-as the-Destroyer invades Hel. Both are amazing runs, though.

Not listed is the Alan Moore/Alan Davis Captain Britain run, which was my favourite strip of the decade. Again, not saying it's the best, just my personal favourite.

The 80's was a very good decade for Marvel, artistically speaking.

Great list of options. I could have chosen just about any one. Ultimately, I settled on Stern’s Avengers.
