Marvel will never let Ben Grimm get too hurt, as he has been the FF's favorite character for a very long time. Now Reed is a little different and I am not sure why. He used to be pretty popular back in the Silver Age and Bronze Age, but some polls I have seen in recent years have shown him a distant 4th in popularity among the main FF characters.
