BUT the retcon came in a series based on the X-men animated series which was non-canon.

BUT it featured the Living Tribunal, who marvel has stated to be a singular entity with no counterparts anywhere in existence.

BUT, even then the X-men comic was supposed to be set BEFORE the current Marvel Universe, which meant that it predated Marvel vs DC and that the more powerful showing of the Brothers is actually the more recent one chronologically. Which COULD mean that the Brother were created by the Tribunal in a Universe before our own but over time grew more powerful than even it could control.

Basically there's a lot of BUTs in that retcon.

I didn't know that. I mean I was aware vaguely of their being retconed but not these specific details.
