    Question Venom Issue Choice

I would like to start collecting Venom as he is one of my favorites. To start I am undecided whether to get Venom Lethal Protector 1 which is the first solo appearance or Venom Sinner Takes All 3 The Bride Of Venom. Not wanted as an investment but personal enjoyment. There are a lot of Cgc graded ones out there from 9.6-9.8. Just like your opinion of which to get first. Thanks.

    I would say neither.

    Get the Venom Omnibuses.
    https://www.amazon.com/Venomnibus-Vo...5389184&sr=8-2

    https://www.amazon.com/Venomnibus-Vo...5389247&sr=8-3

    https://www.amazon.com/Venomnibus-Vo...5389268&sr=8-4

If you do want, simply the comic, don't get a CGC graded one, that is simply added cost and you can't read it.
I think restorative nostalgia is the number one issue with comic book fans.
A fine distinction between two types of Nostalgia:

Reflective Nostalgia allows us to savor our memories but accepts that they are in the past
Restorative Nostalgia pushes back against the here and now, keeping us stuck trying to relive our glory days.

Donny Cates’ current run is great for those who know of Venom but never really followed his own title before.

But yeah, the omnibuses are the way to go.

    Before those omni you should read "Birth of the Venom" - SECRET WARS #8 + AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #252-259, #298-300, #315-317 + FANTASTIC FOUR #274 + WEB OF SPIDER-MAN #1 + AMAZING SPIDER-MAN ANNUAL #25

    The omnis also don't include "Maxium Carnage" wich comes right after Birth of Venom - AMAZING SPIDER-MAN (Vol. 1) #378-380 + SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN #201-203 + SPIDER-MAN #35-37 + SPIDER-MAN UNLIMITED #1-2 + WEB OF SPIDER-MAN #101-103

Omnibuses don't have Maximum carnage? Blasphemy. I know a lot of people dislike that series, but I always loved it. It really is so good.

But I guess that does make sense, Venom omnibuses have Venom comics and not appearances in other comics.

Did Marvel just increase Venom and other symbiotes powers? I thought I heard something about that but not sure why the power-up--something about being space-gods? Can anyone shed light?

I will get the Venomnibus volumes to read but still collect the comics. So again I ask Issue 1 Lethal Protector or Sinner takes all 3 Bride. Thanks.

Lethal protector was the only mini I enjoyed.

Ok, How about Amazing Spiderman 300. First appearance of Venom. Doing a search I see that they are not cheap.

ASM #300 is an all-time classic, and a great reading experience. If you can afford it, then I'd definitely get it.

Are the ASM issues of Birth include Peter's adventures in black or does it jump straight to Eddie?

ASM #300 was Venom's fifth appearance after debatable cameos in Web of Spider-Man #18 & 24 and definite cameos in ASM #298 & 299. #300 is ridiculously expensive for such a common comic.

Secret Wars #8 & ASM #252-259 featured Peter.

Cameos don't count as a first appearance. The only character that should be excluded from this is Gambit.
