Monster Boy is low-key one of the coolest new characters in a team for me.

Yeah, he'd have been an excellent addition to an unrebooted Legion. The new characters Levtiz added for 52 were mostly lousy. Chemical King, Jr, the weather witch and the one with acid breath or something (why not just bring in Fire Lad)? Also, Levitz resisted adding teh fan-created members of the Academy -- all of which were more interesting than the new members he created.

Since the Cthulhu/Lovecraftian stuff is public domain, as far as I know, a 'Kid Mythos' who could only turn into Lovecraftian critters like byakhee or shoggoth or shantaks or dhole would be scary awesome. (Nothing necessarily kaiju-sized like Cthulhu or star-sized like Azathoth, but the 'critters' at least.)
