Book Idea: Toad & Blob

So this would be Toad and Blob buddy comic with some interesting twists and character developments.

Toad and Blob have kind of fallen out of the spot light since the founding of Krakoa, not that they were ever in it much. Blob still feels the same way about Betsy now as he did in Age of X, but she's been completely uninterested in him since. Toad has the idea that now that they are on Krakoa with all these mutant masterminds, that they could get power upgrades and become big shot mutants to get the girls. So they approach Mr. Sinister, Apocalypse, and others looking for upgrades.

Eventually they get their Mutant DNA upgraded, Blob gains molecular control of his body allowing him to shape shift his body similar to Mr. Fantastic or Kamala Khan. Toad gains more strength and a healing factor, and later finds out he gains the ability to change his sex like some frogs/toads have been known to in the wild. Just like the story line in the original Jurassic Park.

Blob can now give himself a hunky body and starts pursuing Betsy and evens goes on a date with her. But Toad finds himself jealous and turns into a female learning about his new power for the first time and goes after Fred himself. I'd leave where this love triangle goes to the writers. You could cover all kinds of topics with the problems Blob and Toad have been through.

This would set Toad up to be one of the first nonbinary X-Men characters who could swing both ways depending on where his hormones takes him.

Toad and Blob should be the Bulk and Skull of the X verse. Like in Power Rangers they start off as bad guys then lovable goofs but while they aren't the main characters they become true heroes.

You've certainly got some interesting ideas here! Honestly, I would love to see more Blob and Toad in the comics, especially stories that take them a little more seriously. I'd be all for some kind of book focusing on the old Brotherhood members, featuring Blob and Toad, along with Avalanche and Phantazia, and Pyro dropping by whenever he's not away with the Marauders (and maybe getting the character development that he's been sorely lacking in Marauders). Blob could be reunited with his buddy Unus, too.

The love triangle bit is the only part of this that I think doesn't work but you've got something here that could work and be interesting.
