Speaking of Andy Griffith, didn’t his second act on TV (Matlock) take place in a small town?

Avatar: Here's to the late, great Steve Dillon. Best. Punisher. Artist. EVER!
Carnivale was also great, and it took place on small towns and on the road. Great show.
Yeah, I think the guy who played Eb was the last one and he died earlier this year.
The Sinner with Bill Pullman and the Outsider with Ben Mendelsohn then Picket Fences.
Hail Hydra!
While this one is from way out in the weeds...
For a pretty short stretch back in the nineties, Fox Television put on what I believe was just a partial season of The Outsiders. While Tom Waits playing Buck Merrill was a pretty small part of the film, the role was quite a bit more central in the series. Billy Bob Thorton played Merrill in the series. Between that role and it being mid/late-sixties Oklahoma, it always felt pretty "Rural..." to me.
