    Default Noncomic Superhero Shows Appreciation

These days, it sometimes seems that you can't find a streaming service or network that doesn't have an offering from The Big Two, or one of the larger independents. Once upon a time, that was most definitely not the case. Every now and then, Superman, Batman or Wonder Woman would get an outing, but it was rare. Which is not to say there weren't Superhero shows out there, it's just they didn't follow a lot of the superhero conventions, and the definitely did not use comic characters, which were largely regarded as kid stuff at the time.

So this is the place to celebrate those early superhero pioneers from the noncomic sources.

My personal example is The Six Million Dollar Man.

Adapted from Martin Caidin's novel Cyborg, the show followed astronaut Steve Austin's many espionage and sci-fi adventures after having a good chunk of his carcass replaced with bionics following a nasty test flight mishap. For five years, beginning 1973, Lee Major's depiction of Steve Austin became the superhero every American Boy wanted to be.

I remember liking Manimal as a kid. Haven't seen it since and its reportedly terrible as it pops up all the time in worst shows of all time but my 12 year old self loved it at the time.

Just off of how they look, I see a female Cyborg ripoff, Kite Man ripoff, and maybe a Flash ripoff?

Also Stretch looks nothing like the toy I had in the 90s...

Disney Zorro (although Zorro comics did exist by then, he was based on the pulps)

    Green Hornet
If not counting comic strips -The Phantom, Flash Gordon, Popeye

    M.A.N.T..I.S.

    Dark Angel (Max Guevara).

The whole Buffyverse and Highlander likely count depending how the op is somewhat nebulously defining superhero)

THE CAPE! --- sorry, just kidding

Also, it wasn't "an early superhero pioneer" as the OP suggests this thread is about. That show was more jumping onto a bandwagon.

Early ones I can think of:
