    Default Hedra

    Wow.
    Just...
    Wow.

No, I mean that seriously, that could be the only word I wrote in review of this book by Jesse Lonergan and it would probably give you a more accurate appraisal of the quality of Lonergan's work than the string of a hundred others I will inevitably scrawl here ever could. Completely devoid of any dialogue this short 48 page story none the less gives you an emotionally deep dive into space that echos Kubric and Clark's 2001: Space Odyssey, Burroughs John Carter of Mars and strangely even Swift's Guliver's Travels. It's a book that appears simplistic on the surface but has depths that will have you returning to it again and again and you'll find something new each time. On top of all that Lonergan's, almost minimalist primary color focused color pallet is like velvet on the eyes it's just that smooth. If you're a fan of sci-fi or just the comics medium in general you need to pick this up now.

    Immediately.

Stop reading this right now, leave this page and go out and buy this book.

    You can thank me after.

This looks really good, thanks for bringing it up. Will try to see if I can back-order this, or might just buy it from Image's website if not.
Is it part of a series, or just one stand-alone project?

It's a one shot, though I've just discovered he has a couple other works that are available on Paetreon that are in a similar style that I may have to check out.

Let me back up thewhtGuardian on this. Hedra is great.

I have subscriptions at two different comic shops and one of them ordered this and the manager there sometimes puts in oddballs I didn't order as a recommendation, with no obligation to buy. As soon as I saw the cover and the size, I had a feeling this was going to be a gem and I was not wrong.

The art style on the individual figures in the comic remind me a lot of Fabio Moon's art, but it is the crafty layouts and fun with panels that are the dominant visual gifts of this comic.
