Blue Beetle‘s New 52 series was overall pretty bad, but the one thing I did like was how they connected the scarab’s origin to Mesoamerican tribes. It gives Jaime’s Beetle a connection to the Maya and Aztecs. I know that scarabs are more associated with ancient Egyptian culture but it works since the scarab is now an alien weapon and not a mystical artifact.
Yara Flor's book is ending but she will be featured in Trial of the Amazons.

Which of DC's "magical Native American" characters do you think should be reinvented to have more scientific origins?
Probably El Dorado. His character is all over the place. I'd just stick to the YJ one. Make him a metahuman. I'd probably change his powers to gold manipulation because I liked this redesign. It's not essential because teleportation is more versatile but I like a challenge.

In the show Tye was given Ray Palmer as a mentor. So I'd keep Tye's origins mystical but lean into him having Palmer as a mentor.
Owlwoman is just a metahuman so you could make her a victim of a science expirement.
I prefer fantasy to sci-fi and I'm more into DC's magic corner than their cosmic stuff. So I'd keep the mystical origins but I'd try to revamp it or play with it differently.

I think Dawnstar is the only Native American DC character that isn’t a mystic. Though he tracking ability does play on some stereotypes.
Dawnstar needs more attention! Hell they all do! Sad that none of them are on a team consistently
Done with DC. Can't handle the constant whiplash! Time to go on a hiatus!
Marvel gets into it too, with Shaman, Forge, Talisman, Puma, Snowguard, Black Crow and Red Wolf all having some mystical elements to them, if not being straight-up mages. (And a few exceptions as well, like native American mutants Greycrow, Thunderbird, Warpath, Moonstar and Harpoon.)
My least favorite is the [color] [animal] naming convention. Black Crow. Red Wolf. Black Bison. Silver Deer. Ugh. (Although I'd laugh if they played on it and had someone named something ludicrous like Purple Porcupine.)
But yeah, some Native American characters without stereotypical powers either related to nature and animals, or Native mysticism, could be neat. I like Tye Longshadow, being a fairly generic 'metahuman' (with a visually distinctive and neat-looking power!), for that reason.

I really wish they would explore some of the Latino characters Native roots! Delve into Jaime, Jessica and Chato’s roots! Definitely some interesting stories worth telling there
