If you're willing to go through The Crucible then sure lol

The crucible just seems like a ritualistic thing so Apocalypse can jerk off at night.

Is it wholly necessary? And I’m using “necessary” in its strictest sense, because the mutants that die out in the field don’t have to go through the crucible, do they?

Does one “crucible event” give a free pass for future possible crucible events?

Dying out in the field is different though. The Crucible is for those that want to be resurrected for whatever reason (i.e. power loss), but also a way to deter mutants from killing themselves en masse.

Is The Crucible necessary? LOL of course not. But I loved it because of the obvious The Lottery vibes. This celebration of something so morbid... it's just goddamn good drama. There are a many possible solutions to the problem of limiting death/resurrection for those that are still alive, and no real society would ever come up with this one.

No, what would be more efficient is getting a healer to fix that leg. Healer is very active in X-Force to help with the non-fatal injuries. The Resurrection protocols currently has a queue that extends 300 years with their current capabilities. There are situations and people that get higher priority, but they arent about to skip people ahead bc they committed suicide in order to fix minor injuries

The Crucible exists so people arent committing mass suicide in order to get their powers back. This goes back to the 300 year queue. A system needed to be put in place to take account for the fact that the resurrections are time intensive

So...with healing mutants...Ms. Reyes is still rendered moot, yeah?

And, sorry, you haven’t explained the unique utility or necessity (again, asking in the strictest sense) of the Crucible. As it stands, the Crucible exists because Apocalypse enjoys torture porn (and, well, the drama of it all). There are better ways to deal with your (assumed) high levels of suicide-to-get-their-powers back ex-mutants...including, but not limited to, simply telling them “Hey, we won’t resurrect you after committing suicide...because you committed suicide”.

And hell, since he’s open to erasing certain parts of people’s memory, Xavier could just wipe suicidal thoughts from mutants (or at least the suicidal thoughts related to “weee, I’ll get my powers back if I OD on pills”).

Have youy seen how Cecilia is utliized? She isnt merely a healer. She is a medical expert and is used for investigation and research. The issue where she died had her performing an autopsy. Healer cant do what she does. Her medical knowledge is what makes her useful and by and large how she is used across her many supporting appearances in this era

All mutants will be brought back regardless of if they commit suicide or not so telling mutants that wont deter them. (Heck prior to X-Factor, they werent even investigating how mutants died). The Crucible exists to allow them to jump the line. Melody was brought back fairly quickly bc she went through the ritual, whereas had she no, she'd be on the backburner. Does it need to exist? No, but it does now and serves a purpose

You specifically mentioned non-life threatening ailments. Healer mutants render her useless here.

So all you’re claiming is that there needs to be a method by which mutants who get resurrected is organized.

    I agree.

You’ve yet to explain how the Crucible is more than just a way for Apocalypse to get his rocks off, though.

I dont need to explain it to you. You have an issue with it? Take it up with Hickman. He is fairly active on Twitter if you need further clarification

I don’t feel as if anyone’s forcing you to engage with me.

And I know why Hickman did it. For the drama.

Having a Krakoan name is basically admitting you aren't a real person.

Cece is soooooooo painfully underused. If there was an X character with standout potential to be turned into an icon, its her.
