I was expecting more playable characters that you could switch in and out of the squad.

-- Suicide Squad : Kill the Justice League is the actual title.
-- Brainiac is involved in the game.
-- It's set in Metropolis.
-- It's a sequel to Arkham Knight and is set in the Arkhamverse.
-- You can play as both single player and multi-player co-op. You can switch characters any time and play the full game either fully single player or with co-op to get other players to be the squad.

The trailer reveal looks good.
-- Deadshot's been redesigned so obviously it's a mild retcon of the version in Arkham City.
-- Boomerang looks younger and now has teleporting boomerangs.

Have to say that Suicide Squad is not going to please fans of Superman. Rocksteady said that the game is a "love letter to Metropolis" which is the fifth character in the game, and it kind of feels like taking Superman's city and giving it to the Squad.

It's coming in 2022.

Well Deadshot just appeared in Arkham City. So he wasn't a major character in the rocksteady trilogy, so he can be safely changed and retconned.

4 years they've been working on this and all we got was a cgi trailer, did they not see how badly that went for xbox, we want gameplay, if you have nothing to show gameplay wise, then dont bother and its still another 2 years away lol.

Rocksteady obviously don't consider Origins canon. I mean they don't treat it as such. It was also a title that sold to far fewer people than their games did so they have incentive to discard it. If you like Origins (and honestly don't know why but you do you) that might be hard but it's what it is.

Rocksteady will always consider their games to be the real canon. And again Deadshot appeared in basically two cutscenes in Arkham City and had one big side-mission, so they can ignore that and recast him.

And Assault on Arkham (where he was the main character).

Rocksteady can discard that as expanded universe, stuff that is canon to them but which they don't have to be canon to (like the MCU and Netflix shows and Agents of SHIELD).

Far fewer people saw that animated movie than played their games.

To be fair I think Rocksteady won’t care about retcons with Origins and Assault since that wasn’t their continuity. City will be where they’ll need to explain though. Maybe there’s two Deadshots and they’ll explain that away somehow.

I don't think it needs explanation. Deadshot was there for two cutscenes in Arkham City (the first one is the one in the intro where the guy in front of Bruce says "you're on my list") and the second is the stealth scene where Batman confronts him. That's easy to ignore for gamers. And changing the race of characters between games happens often. Like The Last of Us Part II turned a character at the end of Part I (at the time quite minor) from black to white in the sequel where he had a bigger role.
