Even in comics, All-Star Superman did pretty well and is a classic. The animated adaptation was liked. People liked the Superman and Lois series with them as parents.

The Supergirl TV show with Melissa Benoist is popular.

It's just that DC/WB and AT and T are terrible at IP management and don't really care or value this stuff, nor do they understand that you can get more money by pushing all properties rather than piling everything in Batman's corner.
To be fair this wqs happening before ATT

True enough but AT and T are not gonna turn things around. They bought the company without understanding or respecting or valuing the stuff. They are gonna rely on what marketing and others tell them, and they will see the status quo that DC/WB have made for themselves to justify and perpetuate the situation.

I think DC/WB was better at this when Paul Levitz was still in charge. Not everything was good in that time, but at least Levitz did greenlight and support the Superman TAS cartoon (which yeah a lot here have problems with but still it was the last serious production centered on Superman in animation) and then the Smallville TV show (terrible I know but at least it kept the characters on air). Things became worse with Geoff Johns, Dan Didio in charge.

And I don't think it's a case of "voting with your wallet", the fact is that Batman gets numerous second chances, way more than other character does. And even when he fails or falls flat...I mean sure BTAS is a great cartoon and all the DCAU cartoons were great, but there haven't been great Batman cartoons since then. I mean The Batman (with Rino Romano) failed, as did Beware the Batman (remember that?). The only real successful Batman cartoon since then has been the R-Rated Harley Quinn show, which is again a character introduced in BTAS and not centered on Bruce. Batman games were likewise pretty mediocre until Rocksteady arrived. Why is that when Superman fails or so on, he doesn't get second chances, whereas Batman gets out of jail for free? Or why doesn't Wonder Woman get chances and so on.

The Batman had five seasons though, I wouldn't consider it a failure by any stretch even if it didn't have much of an enduring legacy in the long run.

Agreed on the rest of it though, including Beware the Batman which came and went in like five minutes.

Look on the bright side, Superman indisputably has better songs than Batman does.

You can make a good playlist out of songs featuring Superman as a subject:

"(Wish I Could Fly Like) Superman" by The Kinks from their album "Low Budget".

    3 Doors Down's song "Kryptonite".
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tpl6ncyxLGw

    Eminem's "Superman"
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jrhq0Tf6xiQ

Five for Fighting's "Superman" ("It's not easy to be me")
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O87shD-FpvU

    "Superman", by R.E.M.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IkM1pTmlhYI

As far as Batman goes, everyone knows Joker is the one with the showtunes.

I think that worked out for the best (especially since the Lois and Clark relationship was one of the best parts of those movies).

Those aren't songs directly about Batman. Except for Prince.

We've had six live action Superman movies, two live action shows with a third in production and numerous animated projects either as a solo star or as a major player. Superman gets more second chances than any DC character not named Batman.

That's not true. because superman makes money for them due to his previous fame he gets chances. Others don't get chances at all. Superman is used like a has been ip they can milk and put over other characters with. The only other media portrayal we had are injustice, this nonsense and snyder movies where he gets shitty screen space time. I don't care what anyone thinks. Bvs should have been mos sequel about the character. Not batman. If actor himself called it a batman movie. It tells you the problem.

And Justice League Action, Young Justice, Supergirl, DCU online and the various animated movies.

I don't base all my opinions on what an actor thinks.

There's a difference between being used in the movie and being about the hero. Nirvana doesn't count. The songs he listed are actually referencing the character.

You realize there was a massive gap between the last Reeve film and Routh right? And that Man of Steel happened because they literally had to make a movie to keep the rights?

Honestly, I hate almost all those Superman referenced songs, lol. The only artist there I can stand is Eminem and even that particular track I don't think is that great. But particularly the Five For Fighting and 3 Doors Down songs made me want to shove knives in my ears back in the day.

All of which is completely irrelevant. Before Routh, Superman had four movies and he has been a frequent presence on t.v. That is more than most DC characters get.
