Default Diana's Top 10 Most Popular Rogues

    Not your personal favorites.

Not her rogues with the most untapped potential.

    Not other superheroes.

Not villains that are not specific to the Wonderverse.

Not her writers or her publisher or her fans or anyone IRL.

Just looking to find a consensus as to who are the top 10 most popular Wonderverse villains?

We're looking for exposure within the comix, equally weighted with usage rate in those uncommon times Wonder Woman has ventured beyond the printed page (cartoons, movies, tv, video games, etc), and awareness beyond the hardcore WW fanbase.

    My list:

    1. Cheetah
    2. Ares
    3. Circe
    4. Giganta
    5. Dr. Psycho
    6. Silver Swan
    7. Dr. Poison
    8. Dr. Cyber
    9. Medusa
    10. Baroness Paula von Gunther

Kind of hard to pick ten given their limited appearances outside of Wonder Woman comics and other media.

    1. Cheetah
    2. Ares
    3. Circe
    4. Giganta
    5. Dr. Psycho
    6. Hercules
    7. Dr. Poison
    9. Veronica Cale
    10. Paula Von Gunther

Cheetah, Ares, and Circe are undoubtedly her "Trinity" of villains.

    1. Cheetah - There's no contest here; Cheetah has appeared in far more materials than any other Wondyvillain out there. I'd be shocked if anyone would put her less than #1.
Claims to Fame: Challenge of the Super-Friends, Batman: The Brave and the Bold, DC Super Hero Girls, Justice League: Doom, Batman Unlimited: Animal Instincts, Wonder Woman: Bloodlines, Wonder Woman 1984, Justice League Task Force, DC Legends, Injustice 2, Lego DC Super-Villains

    2. Giganta - She has the legacy of Super-Friends behind her and is almost always seen among group villain shots.
Claims to Fame: Challenge of the Super-Friends, Justice League, Justice League Unlimited, DC Super Hero Girls, several Lego Justice League films, Wonder Woman: Bloodlines, Injustice: Gods Among Us, Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham, DC Legends

    3. Ares - Most people, from what I've seen, didn't really know Ares was a Wonder Woman villain until the 2017 film. But despite him being considered the worst part by many, he still has that behind him.
Claims to Fame: Justice League Unlimited, DC Super Hero Girls, Wonder Woman (2009), Wonder Woman (2017), Injustice: Gods Among Us, DC Legends

    4. Circe - Still has quite a ways to go for public recognition, but as of now she's the #4 spot.
Claims to Fame: Justice League: Unlimited, Justice League Action, DC Universe Online, DC Legends

    5. Doctor Psycho - His regular appearances in Harley Quinn has really elevated his public recognition. He even has an episode of Orange is the New Black named after him (and the characters spend screentime talking about him!).
Claims to Fame: Powerless, Harley Quinn, DC Universe Online

    6. Doctor Poison - She was in the 2017 film. 'Nuff said.
Claims to Fame: Wonder Woman (2017), DC Legends, Lego DC Super-Villains

    7. Medusa - She was in the MAC Cosmetics advertisements, and was a surprise villain in Bloodlines. Plus, she's effin' Medusa.
Claims to Fame: Challenge of the Super-Friends, Justice League Unlimited, Wonder Woman: Bloodlines, MAC Cosmetics

    8. Maxwell Lord - Love it or hate it, he's a part of the second Wonder Woman film which will push him as a Wonder Woman character to the general public.
Claims to Fame: Wonder Woman 1984

    9. Silver Swan - Her only real claim to fame outside of the comics is being the center of Wonder Woman: Bloodlines. But she's basically the star of it, which is more than many other villains have gotten, so she makes the list. I'm genuinely surprised she never made appearances in Justice League or other DC animated projects.
Claims to Fame: Wonder Woman: Bloodlines

    10. Baroness von Gunther - One of only TWO comic villains who were in the original 70's series. That doesn't count for nothing.
Claims to Fame: Wonder Woman (1976), Batman: The Brave and the Bold

Honorable Mentions: Dr. Cyber, Angle Man, Veronica Cale, Deimos, and (blegh) Egg Fu.

EDIT: My boyfriend vehemently opposed my list and said it'd go:

    1. Cheetah
    2. Ares
    3. Dr. Poison
    4. Dr. Psycho
    5. Giganta

So... who knows at this point.

Has Hercules/Heracles appeared as a villain/foe for Diana in any medium outside the comics?

    1) Cheetah - obviously
    2) Ares - he was the big bad in her first animated and live action movies, the first Wonder Rogue to appear in the Injustice games, and a major presence in her most celebrated comic book runs.
    3) Circe - the best used Wonder Rogue in JLU, a major role in DCUO. Also headlined all of events focusing on Wonder Woman, not sure if that made her popular but definitely very recognizable.
    4) Giganta - she has the most appearances in outside media after Cheetah. The reason I'm putting her below Ares and Circe is because I'm not sure how many people actually know that she's a Wonder Rogue, most of her appearances have nothing to do with Diana.
    5) Dr Poison and Dr Psycho - Poison was a major villain in the movie and in Bloodlines, Psycho had pretty good exposure in the Harley Quinn show.

I think Medusa, Paula, Veronica, Silver Swan, Dr Cyber, Deimos and Eris are more or less on equal footing. Yeah, I'm ignoring Max Lord until the movie actually comes out. I doubt anyone would seriously consider him if not for the movie actually.

No, at least none that come to mind.

And there's a simple reason for that: Hercules in the public domain is unambigiously thought of as a hero.

He is across the board shown as a paragon of mighty manliness. He's also been sanitized to the point of being antiseptic.

Look at the Kevin Sorbo TV series from the 90s. Or any of the Hercules movies that have everyone from Arnold Schwarzenegger to Dwayne Johnson playing him.

Hercules as villain is an idea as generally welcome as Evil Superman (it isn't). It's also one that is pretty unique to the Wonderverse.

It doesn't help that DC never embraced its more problematic Herakles as an ongoing rogue for Diana even in the comix.

If ever there was a candidate who could twisted into chauvinism incarnate, it's Herakles.

Well Hercules wasn't well treated in Greek legends. He was in the Odyssey. He got ditched by his allies when he got into a fist fight with them.

One of the 12 labors was to steal the girdle of the Amazon Queen..... no version of that was peaceful most versions of the story have Hercules killing her after Hera caused the Amazons to distrust him.

Heracles wasn't in the Odyssey... he was an Argonaut, i.e. he was on the ship Argo. But it's correct that he was left behind after an altercation.

What exactly was Herakles' overall role in the Wonderverse? Unlike Marvel's Prince of Power, the DC Herakles rarely showed up much even in the WW comix, right?

Wasn't there an attempt to turn him into Diana's male version of Catwoman when he was Champion or something?
