Can we like it but still think it is awful?
There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

The. Live is the perfect example of where pure enthusiasm on the kart of the artists involved can turn what should be a boring movie into something too hilarious to a look away from.

EVERYONE is in on the joke, and knows how to play it.

Yeah, I like to think a good enough approach to Flash Gordon could resurrect the franchise more as a genuine sci-fi epic... but at least these guys made something goofy enough to chuckle every scene at.
Like action, adventure, rogues, and outlaws? Like anti-heroes, femme fatales, mysteries and thrillers?

I wrote a book with them. Outlaw’s Shadow: A Sherwood Noir. Robin Hood’s evil counterpart, Guy of Gisbourne, is the main character. Feel free to give it a look: https://read.amazon.com/kp/embed?asi...E2PKBNJFH76GQP

BTW. The Al Williamson adaptation (Al hated the movie) is nothing short of spectacular.

Agree. But after reading all the bad reviews - and considering it's been years since I've seen it - maybe it's not as great as I remembered. lol

I knew she is a Doctor Who fan, but this is great, too^^

Adding to this is that it is a chrismas tradition.

But Hey it is a fun movie with a lot of great actors and you see them having fun in this.

I recently saw a documentation with her commenting on the coronation in 1953 and she made fun about the crown and the stuff happening behind the scenes. She is a lot more fun than the usual news are suggesting.

And I would say that since it's fun, it's not a terrible movie.

    ^^^oh it’s hella cheesy!

I introduced my youngest son to it back in 2012 after we watched the movie TED, in which Sam J. Jones played himself and the movie was of course, treated w. reverence while still being mercilessly fun of. He was of the opinion that it was stupid af, but I’ll still catch him re-watching it occasionally, because he really enjoyed it.

It's one of those movies that is so bad it's memorable. But I've never watched it again since that one time in the theater. I'm also of the opinion that the only reason most of us haven't all but forgotten it is the theme song. That's really the memorable part.
    Power with Girl is better.

    ^^^nah, it’s very memorable/quotable.

    Prince Vultan: “Gordon’s alive?!?

    Prince Vultan:

Dale Arden: “Flash, I love you but we only have 14 hours to save the earth.”

    Dale Arden:

Ming: “ Pathetic earthlings. Hurling your bodies out into the void, without the slightest inkling of who or what is out here. If you had known anything about the true nature of the universe, anything at all, you would've hidden from it in terror.”

There are more, but my personal favorite...:

Flash Gordon: “Flash Gordon, Quarterback, New York Jets.”

This is def. a great exchange, between Ming and Klytus, from the song...!

"Klytus, I'm bored. What play-thing can you offer me today?"
"An obscure body in the S-K System, your majesty. The inhabitants refer to it as the planet Earth"
    "How peaceful it looks"
    "Hahahahaha, hahahahaha"
"Hahahaha, most effective your majesty. Will you destroy this... Earth?"
"Later, I like to play with things a while... before annihilation"
    "Hahahahaha"

Max Von Sydow chewed some glorious scenery in that movie!
