The movie is fun to watch for Prince Vultan alone...

Flash is a cult classic. I grew up with the movie.

I am sure in another world. George Lucas did buy the rights and made a movie about Flash. To those who don't know but one of the important reasons George Lucas made Star Wars was because he could not get the rights of Flash Gordon. Flash was the main sci fi inspiration for Star Wars.

^^^That rings a bell, like something I’ve heard about but haven’t thought of in years!

Thinking on it now though, it seems like a Watchmen situation (Moore wanting time use the Charlton action heroes but ending up creating his own pantheon) where it worked out for the best.
Other than Flash as Han (there’s no way he’d be the naive Luke) I’m having a hard time fitting the original SW characters to the Flash Gordon ones (maybe Prince Barin as Lando), to say nothing of the storyline Lucas wound up creating.

It would def. not be the SW we all grew up with!

Actually, they refer to it as the planet [pause] Eaaaaarrrtthh. Like they couldn't have found a more boring and lowly name.

And yes, King Vultan is memorable.

And the very existence of the movie caused a resurgence of interest in the original serials. Star Wars also did that because Lucas frequently mentioned Flash Gordon.

It helps Flash Gordon that Ming is one of the coolest bad guys to come out of the 30s/40s era. A lot of bad guys are inspired by him in one way or another.
I mean, when you have Ming as your nemesis, that just makes you look good!
