I mean I'm pretty excited for the Black Lightning, Thunder, Katana, and Duncan stuff....so pretty much the entire series. Honestly it sounds really cool and after like two years of rumors I'm glad Ridley is going to be able to write the story he wanted to tell.
"It's fun and it's cool, so that's all that matters. It's what comics are for, Duh."
Words to live by.
Super intrigued by this project. Looking forward too it and curious to see how it blends graphic storytelling with the prose. Will it be like Watchmen with supplemental material at the end of each installment?
It's the Dynamic Duo! Batman and Robin!... and Red Robin and Red Hood and Nightwing and Batwoman and Batgirl and Orphan and Spoiler and Bluebird and Lark and Gotham Girl and Talon and Batwing and Huntress and Azreal and Flamebird and Batcow?
Since when could just anybody do what we trained to do? It makes it all dumb instead of special. Like it doesn't matter anymore.

So happy this is finally seeing the light of day. That was a really good interview.
Good for him felt like every time you read about this book DC was trying to get further and further away from publishing it.
Well this is a nice surprise. I completely forgot this was in the works.
Yet the names of the heroes included seems to have changed.

Original pitch
So are they still there or what?HE OTHER HISTORY OF THE DC UNIVERSE. The story will analyze iconic DC moments and chart sociopolitical gains through the perspectives of DC Super Heroes who come from traditionally disenfranchised groups, including John Stewart, Extraño, Vixen, Supergirl, Katana and Rene Montoya among others. At its core, the series focuses on the lives of those behind the costumes, and their endeavors to overcome real-world issues.
John is on the cover.
I wonder if the guy running is Jefferson or Impala from Global Guardians (if that is a speedster and not Jeff).
I want to say that is Geoforce & Katana. Maybe that is Deadman in the back.
I'm probably way off base here, but I almost interpret the running man as being Will Everett, AKA Amazing Man who was ret-conned into the DC Universe in the much missed Roy Thomas WWII series, All-Star Squadron. Will was an Olympic runner at the Berlin Olympics before becoming Amazing Man.
I'm glad this is finally getting released. It sounds really awesome .
I'm guessing the story growing "unwieldy" is part of why it was delayed?
Yeah, I noticed there was no mention of Vixen despite having been originally announced as being a part of this book. I would love to know why the decision was made to exclude her from this and what the reasoning was. From the interview, John Ridley didn't mention her at all.

Black Panther - Champion of Bast
Vixen - Champion of Anansi
This sounds so great. These characters need this type of stories. Can't wait
