    Thor takes the top spot for me. Grew up reading my dads old collection of Walt simonson and stan lee Thor comics, that and his collection of Kirby Mister Miracle comics captured my attention and made me a comic fan for life.

    Wolverine is a close second but my childhood attachment to thor will always make him my favorite marvel character.

    I love the variety in these lists here, and find it interesting that the number of Marvel fans who listed Spider-Man as a favorite can be counted on one hand, and almost nobody specified which Spider-Man they mean.

    Regg215 made me think, brought to mind *my* childhood attachment to Dr. Strange, and it's true, I've trashed several of his recent series, but I've always kept the character in my heart.

    Completely agree! I loved DNA’s Starlord and that version of the character is one of my favorites, but as you said the character was completely ruined by James Gunn and Bendis.

    And nowadays how many characters got ruined, replaced, killed?
    Captain America (with this Hydra sh*t), Captain Marvel (Civil War 2), X-Men during the Inhuman era, She-Hulk, Thor, etc...

    Captain Marvel (Mar-Vell) is my sentimental favourite, being everything I wanted in a super-hero as a kid - the powers, the costume, the fighting style. Even today my heart soars a little when I look at his old stories, particularly the ones I consider well-drawn. It's a very visual thing. I've barely glanced through his early appearances in his green and white uniform - red, blue, and gold only for me.

    Captain Britain runs him a close second. I loved the Marvel UK reboot with Davis on pencils, and the Jasper's Warp storyline just blew my mind at the time. It hurts to see how the character has been treated since then, but that's comics for you.

    Spider-Man was the hero that first introduced me to super-heroes, and objectively I think he might be the best in terms of design, originality, supporting cast, emotional hooks, and balanced power-set. It's no surprise he's been incredibly popular since his inception.

    Iron Fist and Thor are also favourites; Wonder Man used to be, but my passion for the character has waned over time; Rachel Summers was easily one of my favourite characters back in the Claremont/JRjr days, but she's not the same character any more; Wolverine was a big fave back in the day, but I think he's become a little overblown these days - still a great hero design/character, though.
