Goofing around w. a team based on the four most popular pet types. Dog, cat, bird, fish. For lack of a better name I went w. The Terrifics.

    SCIENCE DOG
He’s evolved to the point that he’s half man half dog. He’s his own best friend.

    BATTLE BEAST
The space traveling big guy. Whoever heard of a cat working w. dogs, birds and fish?

    DAWNSTAR
She can track anyone or anything across the entire universe. Now that’s handy!

    TRITON
Falls somewhere in between Science Dog and Battle Beast. He’s a thinking man’s warrior.

This one came about when I was re-reading Commanders in Crisis this morning and noticed Prizefighter’s powers worked kind of like a character called Superstar, created by Kurt Busiek and Stuart Immomen in the nineties.

    Anyway this build uses CiC as a start point;
five characters (vaguely based on the CiC ones) all have their worlds destroyed and end up on a sixth world, teaming up to figure out who or what was responsible for murdering five worlds and stop it from happening again.

CODY BRIDGES (Superstar: As Seen on TV)
Cody was the premier hero of his world. A heavily merchandised Reality TV Star, gaining “bio energy” from his supporters in order to augment his powers (strength, speed, invulnerabilty, supercharged flight) in an odd but effective symbiotic relationship. That connection almost tore him apart when his world was destroyed. He still feels torn apart.

    VALENTINA RESNICK BAKER (Summit)
The team’s de facto leader. Sadly this isn’t the first time Resnick has been a sole survivor. An astrophysicist and astronaut, she was part of a mission to save the earth from a rogue asteroid. Her entire crew perished in space, while she… woke up back on earth, and discovered she’d become a human-plasma fusion reactor. She swore to honor her crew’s memory by using her powers to help others, and did just that, until her world was destroyed. She has a a whole world to honor now.

    MACK DELGADO (Body Bags)
Based out of Terminus Ga., his world’s version of Atlanta, Delgado (street name Clown Face) is a six foot six three hundred fifty pound war machine. A feared bounty Hunter, Delgado has the ability to move his knives in such a way as to cut through almost anything, and throw them at a velocity that sees them impact like mortar rounds. He had only recently reconnected w. his estranged daughter when his world was destroyed. Delgado only knows one way to work through grief. Someone’s going to pay.

    JESSIE MCGRATH (Punchline)
On her world, Jessie was the latest recipient of a magical mantle, which made her functionally immortal and gave her the Shazam-like ability to transform into an idealized version of herself; beyond invulnerable, able to fly to the moon and back, and move mountains. None of that mattered when her world was destroyed. All she can do now is keep moving forward. Anything else would be a disservice to those she couldn’t save.

    KAIDEN AKA KEIKO (Irredeemable)
Keiko was a member of her world’s greatest superteam, who’s most powerful member turned on them and plunged the world into chaos before he was defeated. It was a long road back, but the world was almost getting back to normal before… but no matter. Like all the women in her family, Keiko can summon powerful spirits of Japanese folklore through verbal storytelling to fight on their behalf. A type of necromancy, she can also summon the spirits of her dead teammates, friends, and lovers. She hasn’t shared that ability w. her new team yet.

CW Stargirl's Injustice Society of America (Any villain is fair game.)
Apex instead of Dragon King - DC's Lex Luthor provides the scientific knowledge and evil reminiscent of 1940s mad scientists. Not only will he fill the role of the team's expert in many helpful fields, but he will also most likely take the helm in team endeavors.

Savitar as The Wizard - No, he's not a mage, but super speed is somewhat magical. He's useful and unique from other speedsters. He will work well with others, should their needs align.

Irene Adler as Tigress - An adversary of Sherlock Holmes, Alder does share many traits with a cat burglar. Having outwitted Holmes, she is sure to possess the ability to find others and only allow herself to be found if she sees fit to do so. She frequently disguises as, and convinces others, a man, which should aid the team in intelligence gathering.

The Green Goblin as Sportsmaster - Osborne's MO would be affected by his emotional distress. He isn't afraid of collateral damage. He is manipulated, cunning, and difficult to kill, which means he will be able to provide his unique skillset to the team for as long as they need them.

Gaunt as Solomon Grundy - Marvel's Gaunt started as one of the self-described "greatest warlords in human history" before eventually achieving effective immortality. He is said to be responsible for the deaths of trillions. Upon being defeated, he was sentenced to live out the rest of his days on an uninhabited Earth, so he is likely to but heads with Apex, but his physical prowess makes putting him with him worth it.

Orca as The Shade - Grace's powerset is not like Shade's, but she does provide oceanic access for the team. She also argues that her own brand of justice is the right way to justify her actions. Another enforcer type character, she can be untrustworthy and unreliable. With multiple enforcers, this one may be expendable should the need arise in a group of rogues.

The Mole Man as Brainwave - He possesses an interesting intellectual powerset, Mole Man is abrasive, and years of being shunned have only exacerbated that personality trait. He rules a branch of Subterraneans that he uses to take his revenge on the world. He would have sole control over these minions, which would be an interesting dynamic. He is more than an intellectual match for Mr. Fantastic and it could not hurt to have more than one member on the team with that capability.

Bludgeon as Icicle - He's a martial artist from Transformers, but the powerset isn't why he was chosen. He is ruthless and has no tolerance for failure or missteps. He already has success at forming and leading a team to becoming the "most despicable thing ever done". Bludgeon is able to control his opponents and is physically intimidating.

Set as The Gambler - Set once believed himself destined to be the next King of Egypt. He is one of the preeminent figures of darkness in Egyptian mythology. His involvement would, naturally, come at a price, hence his being The Gambler. Set is quite alienated from the other members of Egyptian mythology, but his underworld connections cannot be overlooked. Set can make almost anything possible, if his favors are reciprocated in kind.

Ghostface as The Violinist - The Scream villain provides his own music extracted from his victims. Ghostface's biggest contribution to the team will come not in powers, but in suspicion and mindgames. Impressive in the ability to throw the heroes off the trail, if only for a bit, but even their team will be unaware of their true identity. Included, they also possess the ability to turn attention to any member of the team whenever they see fit.

    Just for giggles…:

    HAWKGIRL as BIRDGIRL
Lotta different Hawkgirls to choose from but the helmet helped Munoz-Saunders edge out the competition.

    LADY FRANKENSTEIN as STRONGARM
She has the skunk stripe going on, and strong arms. Four strong arms, actually.

    MISS MARTIAN as MINDTAKER
For the green skin and mental powers.

    TRIAGE as THE FEELS
    For the great hair.

    MOON GIRL as EVIE
Needed a smart little girl w. glasses.

    STREAKY as BIRDCAT
    Trading out kitty cats.

BATS as DOG IN A BUCKET HAT
Needed a talking dog, and, I’m pretty sure they’re the same breed.

A Watchmen inspired line up using cartoon characters.

    CAPTAIN PLANET (Dr. Manhattan)
When the Planeteers’ Rings were destroyed several years ago, CP was stuck in the physical world, becoming colder, more distant, and kinda scary over time. His behavior had a blowback effect as Toons became almost universally distrusted.

KIM & JOSS POSSIBLE (Silk Spectre I and II)
Kim was assigned to monitor CP and keep him from losing all his human traits. When he grew tired of her, Kim’s younger cousin Joss took over the mission.

BLUE FALCON I & II (Nite Owl I & II)
Once the OG Blue Falcon retired, his son took over and since then, has dealt w. CP on multiple occasions, which means he’s gotten to know Joss Possible pretty well.

    CASEY JONES (The Comedian)
CJ went from young punk bashing bad guys in his neighborhood for fun, to big, burly, Govt. stooge in a bullet resistant up-armored outfit, working to suppress his fellow Toons. His murder kicks off a chain of events that won’t end well.

    INSPECTOR GADGET (Rorschach)
Estranged from Penny and Brain, who couldn’t deal w. the anti-Toon hysteria, Gadget is homeless now, just wandering Toon Town. Most of his systems are glitching at this point, but he intends to solve Casey Jones’ murder even though it puts a big ass target on his back.

    GALTAR (Ozymandias)
When Toons became distrusted due to Captain Planet’s actions, Galtar made out ok, monetizing the tech in his Golden Lance and founding a global empire. No one suspects he’s got a secret agenda though, to ensure the future of his fellow Toons no matter how many lives it will cost in the short term.

A shared universe Defenders Big Four using robots, cyborgs, androids.

    DC Comics HOURMAN (Dr. Strange)
Switching out time travel for magic. Hourman’s connection to The Worlogog is up there w. any of Doc Strange’s magical artifacts. Plus, Hourman’s cape/hoodie combo looks magician-y.

    IDW Comics ROM (Silver Surfer)
Rom’s armor is kinda silver. He’s a noble alien hero who gave up his humanity to help save his planet, which is basically what The Surfer did.

    Image Comics OVERTKILL (The Hulk)
Overtkill’s got some Joe Fixit vibes, as he often works for organized crime bosses. He’s a big dude prone to smashing who’s intelligence varies depending on the story.

    Marvel Comics DYNAMIC MAN (Namor)
He’s got all of Namor’s arrogance and none of Namor’s redeeming qualities. DM was built in the 40s, to be “the man of tomorrow”. Homophobic, sexist, racist…DM believes he’s better than everyone else.
