I think that homemade looking Batsymbol on the chest is supposed to go away fairly early in the film, if leaks are to be believed.

I'm trying to avoid leaks as much as possible so I hadn't read that. Kind of hoping it's not true, I kind of like the version we've seen, it's different. Although rewatching the teaser the Bat symbol we see through the text of the title as it rises up matches the one shown in the comic. Still, tie-in or not hope it's a good story...that the sequel never acknowledges (just not a fan of "expanded canon" getting references in films).

They are really banking on this film.

Here's hoping that confidence isn't misplaced and they're right on banking on this. Still two spin-off series and a sequel announcement seem a lot for a film not even out yet.

I'm cautiously optimistic for this film, if only for a grittier take on Batman, and most likely, great performances from Pattinson and Dini. I'll be disappointed if we don't get a more "traditional" suit and hat Riddler, though.

Dini? Dano. He's in There Will Be Blood and Prisoners. Two of my favorite movies. While watching Dune I could not help thinking on how this might be WB's new formula for franchises. If it is we will get a spectacular movie that does almost everything right but there won't be much to talk about after since its not thought provoking like the source material. I hope I'm wrong. If I'm right I will still appreciate The Batman a lot. Just like Dune.

I'm guessing it's cheaper to do filming for other releases at the same time if you're using the same scenes / costumes in those other movies (especially if there are flashbacks or what not)?

That's kind of contrary to the leak/rumor coming out of the test screening last month (month before?) that claims there's a lot of suspense, sort of horror elements, and at least one really big surprise. Like, outside sharing a studio there's not a lot of similarities between these properties, so I'm guessing you can't use Dune as any kind of a benchmark for how The Batman is going to turn out. Different writers, directors, producers, etc. So I wouldn't worry about it, from what little has been released, this might be The Dark Knight level of thought provoking.

Well, it's not at the same time - first movie's already been wrapped up for a while, and trying to film a movie and two series at the same time seems like a logistical problem. But rapidly doing one after the other I could see. Besides, they're probably already well into finishing the episode scripts for GCPD while only starting for the Penguin and not even close just yet to starting on TB2. So more closely in sequential order than simultaneous. Still on the (very, very unlikely) chance this film sinks they'll look like they've got egg on their face. I'm hoping for the best, but feels like a repeat of the same mistake they made with the early DCEU - counting so many eggs before they've hatched.
