While I'm disappointed that we won't be getting a more comics-accurate Cassandra Cain in the movies anytime soon, I did like the DCEU incarnation in and of itself, so I've made peace with it as just another version coexisting alongside her comics' counterpart. Actually would very much like a sequel of some kind, with the Birds getting involved in something that forces them to partner up with Harley and Cassandra again.

Kind of like how in isolation there are characters in the Arrowverse I like even if on-paper they are really bad adaptions of the characters they're named after.

The things with television is though, they can be easily redone later.

With BoP, the executives are gonna look at the last big expense and hold it against said characters.

In my book, there's always animation at least...

Cass really should have just been a race swapped Holly Robinson or that girl Elle from Morrison's run instead of Cass.

Dinah and Helena were fine, they just need better high production costumes and to be joined by Babs.

Well I really didn’t like her Future State title. Horrible over computerised art that did nothing for me and the story was dull and predictable it was the easily the worst of the these titles I read. At least the Superman title had better art.

I am glad they are really starting to put Harley through the mill in her solo title, with increasing instances of people confronting her about her past. I like her as a character but it was ridiculous for them to try and move her over to being a hero without any kind of effort to confront her past as the Joker’s sidekick. It’s easily the best Harley solo exactly because they are finally doing this.

I guess one thing that occurred to me is this. If Black Adam can be a hero so can Harley Quinn. Both cases annoy me but it is a movement at DC it seems

I read the collected version of Harley/Joker: Criminal Sanity. It's a decent psychological thriller but I don't know if I can recommend it to Harley fans.

Heh, one of the better bits of writing in Injustice: someone on Team Superman confronts Batman over the fact he somehow trusts Harley enough to let her use the Bat-computer.

But yeah.... the irking part with Harley is how many people just want to magically absolve her of any crimes... no, just... no.

Are they real Harley fans if they haven't read it though?

I still think it’s strange that DC fans are so obsessed with Harley suffering for her heinous crimes despite years spent in prison and forced to work with task force X. Yet they are so willing to overlook Hal or Wally’s crimes.

Well, Wally and Hal started out as heroes and were thrown under the bus by unsubtle writers.

Harley on the Suicide Squad was morally neutral at best. She was rarely a voice of reason, they rarely acted for the public good and she did it to get time off from all her crimes rather than redeem herself. She did do some good, but it was a pretty sporadic thing

Well Hal's original heel-turn was so off the wall it was infamous for being out of left field. It getting explained as possession by an outside force made more sense than the original story did. And well... it was pretty obvious Hal saw his actions as Parallax as wrong.

Harley? Has Harley apologized? Or even stopped acting like a supervillain?

The key difference is that Hal and Wally were created to be superhero protagonists and functioned that was for most of their histories and garnered fans based around that fact before their characters were thrown under the bus for dumb schlock storylines that fans wanted to see undone ASAP. They had to act extremely OOC for those stories to work.

Harley was created the be a villain. The first time we see her she is helping her boyfriend plan to blow up a room full of people. The story that fleshed out her backstory and made her more sympathetic still involved her trying to murder Batman and help the Joker disfigure Gordon. She shot to popularity while in the hands of her original creators and was shaped by them (a rarity with mainstream comic characters) and their final story for her originally ended with her death because it was the most appropriate punishment for assisting in torturing a child into insanity. Dini ended up not wanting to kill her so he wrote her in as an old lady in Beyond time, but that is probably the most convincing redemption she had: she just retired from crime, laid low and didn't bother anyone again and tried to make sure her granddaughters wouldn't go down the same path she did. That is a stronger indicator that she actually changed and wants to leave her old life behind her instead of her bouncing around in everyone's faces and being on the JL when she doesn't convincingly express remorse for what she's done.

Also, Hal died, spent 10 years trying to atone for his crimes as the Specter and even when he came back faced a great deal of hostility. Whereas Wally got locked up for what happened with Heroes in Crisis.
