Default DC Next Dawn - September Solicits!

We present to you DC Next Dawn, a collection of all new fan-made issues on “sale” this month, SEPTEMBER 2020!

What is “DC Next Dawn” and how does it work?

Next Dawn, previously known as “New Dawn,” is a fan fiction universe and solicitation game that has been in existence on the CBR boards for approximately ten years! It has gone through several iterations and has survived forum reboots! The way it works is that “plotters” write short solicitations for monthly comic books! Then participants “buy” the books they want to read! The books with the most buys get rewards. Sounds fun, right? So let’s do this! Which of this month's solicits interest and excite you? Let us know by posting which books you'd pick up in the virtual Next Dawn Store (this solicitation thread). You can pull as many as you'd like, but also consider your "virtual budget" when making your selections, as sales are used to reward our titles and plotters. Registers are open all month and sales are tallied at the end of the month.

Absolutely anyone can make purchases right here in this thread - so please do!. It’s free and is basically just saying “I’d read this” or “I like this!” So let us know!

If you want more information on Next Dawn or are interested in plotting yourself, please visit us at the Next Dawn Bullpen Thread.

    Behold! Our monthly archive!
This is the repository of our prior work; a compilation of all the monthly solicitation posts since the forum was reset in 2014.

    STARRO WARS #3
    Plot by EXCITER
Written by ROBERT KIRKMAN and MARK MILLAR
Art by FRANK CHO and JOE MADUREIRA
    “IN LEAGUE”
Nothing and no one, not even the Universe’s greatest guardians, have been able to stand against the massive onslaught of Starro’s swarm. Earth is about to fall. The conqueror has mentally enslaved an incalculable number of warriors, all working in league pursuant to its expansionistic will. If there is to be any hope, our heroes will need a league of their own...
The Martian Manhunter has a plan. He can read minds, but cannot understand the language Starro uses to control his drones. Yet one hero does speak echinoderm... Arthur Curry, the Aquaman! If J’onn can form a psychic link with the Atlantean and get in range of Starro, he may be able to sever or even usurp control of the swarm! But the plan to get in range is even more audacious.
A team of heroes unlike any other must come together. The last son of Krypton, Superman! The dark knight, Batman! The Amazonian princess, Wonder Woman! The fastest man alive, the Flash! The Green Lantern, John Stewart! The genius engineer, Steel! Together with Martian Manhunter and Aquaman, this Justice League must board a unique space vessel and fight their way to the heart of the swarm... for only there can they hope to accomplish an impossible victory!
But they’re not alone, for Vandal Savage has been preparing to mercilessly destroy any threat to humanity for 50,000 years. He has his own ship and his own assemblage of metahuman “heroes” - the Children of the Light. They’re following the League into the fray, but are sworn to save Earth at any cost - even if it means the lives of a quintillion innocent victims controlled by Starro!

Plus, the unscrupulous alien Despero uses his mental powers to protect his home planet, Kalanor, from Starro’s wrath. He’s confident Earth’s heroes will defeat Starro, and when they do... Kalanor, under his iron fist, will be there to fill the power vacuum!

    LEGENDS OF THE MULTIVERSE #12
    Plotted by Clark_Kent
    Written by Grant Morrison
    Art by Kenneth Rocafort
"The Slayer of Earth 4" *Extra-Sized Conclusion!*
Vampire Superman snarles, steam pouring from his hot retinas. Henshaw, having met defeat at the hands of Kal-El more times than he cared to admit, knew this was his opportunity to fight back. His chance for revenge on the Kryptonian, even if it's not his Kryptonian. He launches into him at full speed, knocking him out of the tower and up into the sky.
Vicki jumps through the air, stake in hand, but Vampire Batman is ready for her! A fast roundhouse kick sends her flying back, and Batman is on top of her in an instant! As they wrestle, the support of the tower begins to weaken under the impact of their fight.
In the air, Eradicator and Superboy arrive to help Henshaw. During the battle, Henshaw explains to them how Vampire Superman is powered by moonlight. Unfortunately, sunrise is still hours away...Superboy tries to hold him off as Henshaw and Eradicator fly into space on a last-ditch effort.
John Henry, his armor damaged, fights valiantly against the vampire horde. Making his way to the top of the tower, he quickly begins to regret it as the walls literally are shaking as Vicki and Batman battle.
In space, Henshaw and Eradicator reach the moon. Working together, they shift it slightly away from its position, changing how the sunlight reflects! For just a moment, they have an opportunity to strike, and they hit the Vampire Superman with everything they have. Without the light of a full moon, Vampire Kal-El is no match for Henshaw, Eradicator, and Superboy all at once. Choosing to fight another day, he launches himself into orbit, disappearing into the cold vacuum of space...
The shift in moonlight draws Batman's attention from Vicki, leaving John Henry an opening! He grabs Vampire Batman from behind, momentarily holding him in place. Vicki leaps forward, driving the stake deep into Batman's heart! In a scream of anguish, Vampire Batman slowly turns to dust. His ashes scattered to the wind, John Henry grabs Vicki and helps her out of the tower. Moments later, the tower falls and Vicki smiles. The long dark nightmare of the Justice Masters is over...for now. As Henshaw and Eradicator put the moon back where it belongs, Vicki wonders: what is left for a Slayer in a world without Vampires?

    “SEEING RED
You think you’re mad enough to be a Red Lantern?
The Red Lantern Corps under Guy Gardner’s leadership has distinguished itself as an extremely badass force in the universe by being one of the few entities to claim a decisive victory in the Starro Wars. Although Guy didn’t actually *beat* Doomsday, he did manage to kill the super-spore that was controlling him. The living weapon of mass destruction’s adaptive biology means the same trick won’t work on him twice, so Guy just had to point Doomsday in Starro’s direction and now he’s wrecking **** up and causing one hell of a distraction. Some more sadistic members of the Corps float the idea of giving Doomsday a Red Lantern Ring - but that’s a friggin’ terrible idea... isn’t it?
Meanwhile, Guy’s old buddy Hal Jordan shows up to planet Gofuckyaself lookin’ for a favor. The Green Lantern’s Central Battery is toast, but the Red Lantern’s still got theirs and it’s absolutely throbbing with what Guy describes as “big dick energy.” Hal wants in, but is he really rage-fueled enough to wield a red ring? Time to put the boyscout to the test!

•SAND HAWKINS is used to nightmares, and his latest leads him to Pfizer Pharmaceuticals R&D in Amazonas, Brazil just in time to see the workers attacked by overgrown plant life and attacking each other under the influence of psychotropic pollen. ROSE CANTON has a Starro stuck to her face, and her florokinetic split personality, THORN, is wreaking havoc. Good thing Sand always walks with his SANDMAN mask! His terrakinetic powers and sleep gas seem a match for her until a building explodes in a burst of hellfire, and Sandman realizes he's facing another threat: ETRIGAN! Perhaps THE DEMON's human persona, JASON BLOOD, also has a Starro on him.

I'm going to do this early for once!

STARRO WARS #3 (Steel is an unconventional choice for the League. I dig it!)
BAT-WING #14 (Maybe it's just Iron Man 3 talking, but a CEO named Killian seems like a red flag!)
DEADLY HANDS OF CONNOR HANDS HAWKE #14 (Snow Ninjas... there's one for every climate, isn't there?)
THE FLASH #14 *Starro Wars Tie-In* (Grodd Save Us All.)
GREEN LANTERN #14 *Starro Wars Tie-In* (You won't like Hal when he's angry...)
LEGENDS OF THE MULTIVERSE #12 (Vampire Superman being powered by moonlight is brilliant)
OUTSIDERS #11 (You never want to be relying on Blackfire for anything...)
RED X: SEASON TWO #1 (Terrible solicit, who wrote this?)
SENSATION COMICS #14 (How long will this war go on for? I have no idea)
STARRO WARS: CLAW THE UNCONQUERED #3 (Vandal Savage is an easy sell for me!)
    STARRO WARS: KAHINA #1
STARRO WARS: QUESTION #1 (If a corporation has a cybernetic samurai, it's probably in need of regulation)
STARRO WARS: RED LANTERN #3 (It's a pretty good bad idea!)
STARRO WARS: STAR-CROSSED #2 (Such a pervert, that Firestorm.)
    STARRO WARS: SUPER SONS #1
TEEN TITANS #4 (I wonder what Donna's take on the Civil War in Amazonia would be? Also, I wonder what Donna's origin is in this timeline. SO hard to keep track.)

STARRO WARS #3 : Love a good assemblage (is that a word?) of heroes. Plus actually having a use for Aquaman & Martian Manhunter is great.
BAT-WING #14 : Ohhh love me some Dexter Soy.
DC EXTENDED UNIVERSE #12 : Leave it up to Mera to save the day.
DEADLY HANDS OF CONNOR HANDS HAWKE #14 : Pulling the arrow from the bear's paw, sounds like a good parable!
THE FLASH #14 *Starro Wars Tie-In* : Poor Henry Allen, never can catch a break.
GREEN LANTERN #14 *Starro Wars Tie-In* : Somebody's always gonna be there to take advantage.
LEGENDS OF THE MULTIVERSE #12 : Buffy references will always win me over!
THE QUESTION #14 : Reporters are some of my favorite people, love to see a good investigation going on.
RED X: SEASON TWO #1 : Look at my avatar, I'm a big fan of Dick Grayson. Love all the Red-X stuff as well.
SENSATION COMICS #14 : Wonder Woman making the tough calls.
STARRO WARS: CLAW THE UNCONQUERED #3 : Love me a good quest. Wonder who these mysterious allies are?
STARRO WARS: KAHINA #1 : Leave it to Starro to cause all the right kinds of trouble.
STARRO WARS: QUESTION #1 : Deep cut there with Floronic Man. The cybernetic ninja angle sounds exciting as well!
STARRO WARS: RED LANTERN #3 : Planet gofuckyaself makes me smile every time. Hope Hal makes the cut!
STARRO WARS: STAR-CROSSED #2 : Such a bizarre and strange group of people (in a good way!). I also read Firestorm as being a pervert, lol!
STARRO WARS: SUPER SONS #1 : This is one of my fav comics in real life. The added BvS angle (but they're fighting out of love!) is great as well!

I am fighting for my job here. So buying everything is getting tougher, but I will.

STARRO WARS #3 (And they said echinoderm wouldn't be a good course to take in superhero school.)
    BAT-WING #14 ("Nah, I busy tonight." "There'll be guns." "I'm in. Let's go.")
DC EXTENDED UNIVERSE #12 (There must be Faora "parody" pornos out there. At least I hope so.)
DEADLY HANDS OF CONNOR HANDS HAWKE #14 (Classic fables? I congratulate you on your ability to work it in.)
THE FLASH #14 *Starro Wars Tie-In* (I have to say, turning the hero into a hamster powering a device is pretty cool. Well, I don't HAVE to say. I just want to.)
GREEN LANTERN #14 *Starro Wars Tie-In* (Ummm, has anyone looked on Amazon for new batteries? Just sayin'.)
LEGENDS OF THE MULTIVERSE #12 (It's good to see the Moon put back where it belongs. A good lesson for the kids.)
OUTSIDERS #11 (Road Trip!! If there's no detailed sequence on them deciding on munchies as a gas station, I will be unhappy.)
THE QUESTION #14 (It's almost like there's something up with Lee Travis.)
RED X: SEASON TWO #1 (Issue one and only one cover? Clearly someone did NOT graduate from comic book making school. )
SENSATION COMICS #14 (Awesome way to troll that New Universe on the Marvel side.)
STARRO WARS: CLAW THE UNCONQUERED #3 (What will Vandal Savage slaying Starro do for the price of Starfish meat? Cheap seafood lovers want to know.)
STARRO WARS: KAHINA #1 (Wait. Starro and Civil Wars BOTH? I must buy this crossover issue! It's not like there are that many company crossovers anymore. )
STARRO WARS: QUESTION #1 (So, Starro is a giant alien starfish who's taken control of quintillions of beings and is heading for Earth. Its opponent is ... a guy in a cool mask? How the f*** does Starro last for a four issue mini?)
STARRO WARS: RED LANTERN #3 ("Big dick energy" should be enough to sell this book. Fact.)
STARRO WARS: STAR-CROSSED #2 (Why hasn't anyone cashed in on this and made "Starro" masks for sale? Merchandise and IPs are the way, pilgrim!)
STARRO WARS: SUPER SONS #1 (I've seen enough old World's Finest covers to realize that Robin is more than capable of expository dialogue. But helping Superboy? OK, I'll actually open thois book.)
TEEN TITANS #4 (Spectacular Sixsome? The FF gets replaced with 75% apes and boom, everyone is out for them. [shameless selfplug] )

This month is fantastic. My Pulls:

    STARRO WARS #3
BAT-WING #14 (I only condone ownership of high-tech weapons when they are properly licensed!)
DC EXTENDED UNIVERSE #12 (Hopefully DCEU Cyborg doesn’t come face to face with his greatest enemy… Geoff Johns!?!)
DEADLY HANDS OF CONNOR HANDS HAWKE #14 (Who doesn’t love bears?)
    THE FLASH #14
    GREEN LANTERN #14
LEGENDS OF THE MULTIVERSE #12 (Great build up leading to this huge pay off!)
OUTSIDERS #11 (pro-wrestling jargon used in a solicitation always gets my buy!)
THE QUESTION #14 (I’m always thankful for a “no talkfest” warning!)
RED X: SEASON TWO #1 (Fantastic set-up. BOTM)
SENSATION COMICS #14 (releasing mad gods is typically a net negative in my experience)
STARRO WARS: CLAW THE UNCONQUERED #3
STARRO WARS: KAHINA #1 (I hate when space starfish interrupt by downtime!)
STARRO WARS: QUESTION #1 (we need those floronic antibodies!)
    STARRO WARS: RED LANTERN #3
STARRO WARS: STAR-CROSSED #2 (This situation leads to sorrow, Jason Blood controlled by Starro?)
STARRO WARS: SUPER SONS #1 (the classic coming of age mind control story)
TEEN TITANS #4 (tower defense always forges strong bonds!)

In my opinion, Steel is the most underutilized and overlooked character that DC has in its stable. Its completely inexplicable to me why he isn’t pushed as an A-Lister. He was even portrayed by Shaq for crying out loud!

Who’d have expected Aquaman and Martian Manhunter to be the most important parts of the team?

One of everything. It’s been awhile, so I’m pretty sure I forgot everything and am ready to read these as an excited new reader.
    “Fleeing through the labyrinths with the hordes of the living dead fast upon them;
Once again they found themselves trapped in front of the abyss.”

Thanks! Silly me, jumping in during an event. Gonna have to go back and hunt down some issues.
