I was driving to work and knew that with Tampa Bay and Cleveland getting in the playoffs this year, my mind wandered to, "Wait, who has the longest playoff drought now?" There's 14 teams getting in this year, and the modern NFL has moved away from dynasties and into the parity concept, so that no city goes too long without having some hope for their local franchise. And it shows, given this list:

The Jets are now left holding the bag as the NFL team who has gone the longest without making the playoffs, ten full seasons since they were challenging the Patriots for the NFC East, in the Rex Ryan era.
Arizona is tied for second, five years removed from the Bruce Arians era.
Cincinatti, also five years, during the twilight of the Marvin Lewis era of making the playoffs, but losing immediately in Wild Card rounds.
Denver, tied for second, is five years removed from having had Peyton Manning lead them to a Super Bowl victory.
There are four teams tied for fifth longest playoff drought with a mere four years. Raiders, Dolphins, Giants, Lions.
This is pretty interesting, and with the exception of the Jets, really shows the true parity of the league, imo.
    Also, Go Bills!

    Buccaneers 49 - Football Team 19 (TB12 throws 7 playoff TDs)

Ravens 27 - Titans 28 (4th down run with no time left)

Saints 42 - Bears 13 (Saints combine for 6 TDs across the board; 2 passing, 1 ST, 2 on the ground, 1 DEF)

Steelers 20 - Browns 27 (too many FGs for PITT costs them the game)
I did pretty good, 4-2! Colts had the game, too. The only one that I don't think would have changed with better play calling was the Raven's win. On to the next round!

I'm going a LITTLE more conventional here ...

Rams 19 - Packers 28 (Rams keep Rodgers mostly in check but it is not enough with their slow OFF)

Ravens 21 - Bills 23 ("WIDE RIGHT! WIDE RIGHT! WIDE RIGHT [but for BAL]!"

Browns 31 - Chiefs 24 (And thus beings the transfer of the Factory of Sadness to KC ...)

Buccaneers 42 - Saints 38 (A shootout that ends with TB12 on top)

Dont have the link yet. But NFL Network just reported Doug Pederson of The Eagles has been fired.

Damn. 7 Head Coaching jobs now open in the NFL. Is this a record? I also want to go back and check WBE posts and see how many of the hot seat coaches have been fired.

Just heard about Pederson. From Super Bowl winning head coach to unemployed in just three years. Astonishing.

OOhh! What a maroon, so you're telling me the word to go to Sudfield didn't come from the GM or owner??? Well Pederson's a total rube then cause those moves were beyond head scratching. Good riddance.

Once the heat became too much it was too much to keep Pederson. He had lost the locker room even with Kelce trying to vouch for him during the week saying Pederson had told them he planned to get Sudfield on the field. Alas poor Pederson has now created a comical line people will say when a final game of the season comes up and a losing team needs a win....

3 were fired mid-season (Quinn in Atlanta, O'Brien in Houston, Patricia in Detroit).
Since the regular season ended, we've seen Marrone in Jacksonville, Gase from the Jets, Lynn from the Chargers, and now Pederson in Philly.

If the Sudfield move did come from on high, then management are POS for making him take the fall for their decision. Wonder if we will ever know.

Well, I was 3-3 with my predictions. About as good as a monkey making random picks would do. So trying a different prediction method, very scientific this time:

    Rams over Packers
    Bucs over Saints
    Chiefs over Browns
    Ravens over Bills
Every day is a gift, not a given right.

Pederson will never drop a dime on the front office because he knows that would make him unemployable to other teams. And even if he were to sing like the proverbial canary about what went down last Sunday, owner Jeff Lurie and/or GM Howie Roseman would simply deny it. Meanwhile, with Pederson gone, will that improve the Eagles’ chances of keeping Carson Wentz since it was said his relationship with Pederson had soured after his benching?

ESPN is reporting it does improve their chances, but I think a lot will depend on what direction the new coach or the existing front office wants to go in at QB. If they want to keep and start Wentz, he'll be back. It they want to go with Hurts as the starter moving forward, Wentz will still likely want to move on as he has said he does not want to be a back-up and will not accept the role. SO getting rid of Pederson opens the door to keeping Wentz, which was likely closed if Doug retained his position, but is no guarantee Carson will be back. I think a lot depends if they can find a way to trade Wentz, get some value, and not kill their cap numbers. Wentz's contract may be untradeable though, and may mean he will be back at least for one more year unless they are willing to eat that contract.

If the Colts do go for Wentz they will want Philadelphia to eat at least half that contract in a deal. They will have to work a deal where the teams will make the cap hit work for both sides. But the big question mark is ...how ready is Hurts to take the reigns. Had Pederson not fucked that final game up and used it as an audition for teams to look at Hurts we could have seen possibly what is there. Had he led the team in a comeback win his value would have been even bigger to judge on keeping or trading.
