    It probably is.

But the idea that over that span, you could blow a 4th quarter lead over half the time... when the law of averages should be that you're only even AHEAD just half the time (50% probability, all things equal)... that takes some doing. Especially when it's included games where they've been up by as much as 18.

Another side note to yesterday when the Bears came down by 18... it's not just sad because Chicago has Mitch Trubisky moving them down the field for 3 TDs in the 4th... it's that the Lions couldn't run out the clock when they just signed Adrian Peterson this week... who's like one of the all time best at grinding for yards late in games while the clock runs out on the opponent. Everything says Detroit should have pulled this win off. You almost have to try to choke with all the circumstances they failed in.
Well here is what is crazy. The Lions actually had a chance to win the game in the final 10-20 seconds. Stafford threw a beautiful pass to rookie RB Swift in the endzone. The guy is WIDE OPEN and its a SURE TD. The kid drops the ball and the Lions couldn't score.

The Giants offensive line is a mess. They have according to what MNF claims...

    - A former guard trying to be a center now.
    - A rookie tackle on one side.
    - The other tackle is a journey man pushed to start tonight.

NO ONE is rushing good behind this offensive line. Its why the Giants and Jason Garrett as offensive coordinator went to short quick passing attack. Because the line was not good with what is there right now. In fact Daniel Jones was the leading rusher tonight with 22 yards. Deion Lewis ..had 1 carry for ...1 yard.

Generational talents get more than 6 yards on 15 carries.

The Titans do not have a great O line, yet Henry ran for over 100 last night.
There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

I bet Bucs fan is thrilled that he came out of retirement to give them a two catch 11 yard day.

Absolutely, he is great. But Barkley was going to be the best player in the League.

The Titans offensive line is ranked higher than the Giants one. Plus as this points out the only replacement the Titans had to make was at tackle where Conklin is leaving. Its not replacing the 3 of the offensive linemen in a season. Your not gonna have it easy when your shifting a former guard to center (as we saw with a bobbled snap at one point and Riddick brought up).

This site ranked the Giants offensive line as "below average" while Titans ranked solid at the position.

    https://establishtherun.com/thorn-20...line-rankings/

And finally the Sporting News is more hopeful saying the Giants 3 new additions to offensive line should help a 24th ranked unit last year.

Until the Giants fix the offensive line...NO ONE is running behind it. Since as week 1 showed us both RB's couldn't see daylight. Barkley is more of a hard runner with an aggressive style. He also is solid at catching the ball outta the backfield and has nearly 150 receptions already in 3 seasons (last year was injury plagued as he missed 3 games and battled an ankle injury). But he will constantly get the ball in this offense.

The big question mark is the line though. They aren't the same offensive line where he rumbled for 1,300+ yards as a rookie. The team as brought up is shifting 3 new players onto that line. Tennessee by all accounts has 1 in Conklin to replace. So its a no brainer on why the running game was awful in week 1 thus far.

Not saying Barkley is not good, and the O line is part of the problem. But a generational talent, a runing back touted to become the best player in the whole of the NFL runs more than 6 yards in a game. I think of some of the all time great RBs, they could make their own opportunities.
You can excuse why a good RB is struggling, but not why the best RB in a generation is.

Unless Barkley morphs into Barry Sanders he's not that style of RB. He's a power runner who hits the hole and go. He's a good WR for sure outta the backfield as we have seen. But here is how he runs...its straight ahead type.

Not having seen the game, let me ask a couple questions.

How often did he have to dodge tackles in the backfield? Successfully or not. Which leads into a related question: how many yards after contact? If that number looks good but the total is still that low then I'd blame the line almost entirely.

How long was it before he was having to dodge tackles? Was there even enough time to get moving after the handoff? I have seen some real crappy O-line play before, where the Defense sometimes seemed to arrive faster than the handoff.

Those two things will help judge just how bad the line is or isn't playing - if the RB is almost always having to fight merely to get to the Line of Scrimmage, if tackling him risks a roughing the passer penalty because the fall would often hit the QB, that would tell us something.

The talking heads pointed out how damn good the Steelers defense was ...

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nsxEqYCJ0tc

This is how bad the offensive line was against the Steelers. On a lot of carries Barkley had Steelers in his face before he got to the line of scrimmage. It wasn't pretty...

Again, I am not calling him a bad RB. And there are reasons for his poor performance. But here is the thing, the Giants took him #2 overall, over a desperately needed QB. Because they said he was a once in a generation player. That he would not only be the best RB in the game, but could be the single best player in the3 NFL. We are talking Jim Brown type of player. He is not.

To play devil’s advocate, the choices of quarterbacks in that draft weren’t exactly stellar. Baker Mayfield, Sam Darnold, Josh Allen and Josh Rosen haven’t exactly lit the world on fire, and who knew Lamar Jackson, the last pick of the first round would become a superstar. Perhaps the Giants didn’t like the passers coming out of college and figured a stud running back would be the best choice for them.

The Giants offensive line sound like the turnover you hear for the season when your team goes 3-13. You'll try to convince yourself what rookies inserted into the lineup or journeyman backups that will somehow click and find a second life for their career...

And whenever you're doing that as a fan, you're lying to yourself. Not only will they not suddenly become Pro-Bowlers, but they're likely to miss some games and your franchise will be signing guys off the street to play on 3-4 days notice.

Not even joking. I've seen multiple teams have lost seasons on such a pitch.

This move QB wise is looking like the smart one though as you posted. Mayfield , Rosen and Darnold have had more downs than up right now. Allen has started to slowly come around but he has battled inconsistent play at times. The reason they took Barkley was to get the pressure off Eli Manning honestly.

In 2018 the Giants had Eli , they had their WR situation set with Odell Beckum Jr and Sterling Shepard as both men had over 1,900+ yards receiving combined to keep offenses off 8 men in box. They had signed Nate Soldier to a huge contract (making him the highest paid offensive lineman in league and they added another one in free agency as well that year.

This was an offense that was set. With no real QB's to draft the team needed a big RB to have their own version of the triplets. The team wanted a Dallas type offense where we see Ezekiel Elliott , Dak Prescott and Amari Cooper . So the Giants saw Barkley as that puzzle piece after upgrading the offensive line in free agency. Teams love to copy what works elsewhere and Giants tried it here.

The biggest issue is the offensive line though. Soldier has basically been a free agent bust and sitting out this year. He's not been worth the contract and the team was forced to try and rebuild the offensive line and develop new WR's after trading OBJ in 2019. They really need to replace OBJ and get that line better.

    6 yards on 15 Carrie's. 6 yards.
Though NYG passing on Sam Darnold doesn't seem like a big deal.
Probably should have taken Chubb in 2018.
With all the hype surrounding his acquisition and in spite of the Giants best hopes, Barkley is one bad season away from being a bust.

Meanwhile - Henry had a great game last night and, if you watched that MNF game, he made yards on his own without help. Plus it is always fun seeing the Broncos lose
