I'm going to guess that there may be something with this virus in particular -- and it seems the Dawn of X books as a whole love looking for loopholes around the mutants' immortality (like Domino and Kid Omega being captured). If the virus does something like, oh, say, prevents Storm's mind from moving to the next body, then resurrection is pointless.

We have seen Cable being affected by his out-of-control virus.

It's one of those "I'm not dead but I can't die" states. Not very nice.

He's an intellectual, an expert in computer science, and his mutation allows him to be exceptionally gifted with everything relating to languages and codes. And Hickman thinks he's very underrated (he really is)

In short, it's no wonder Hickman picked Doug (and Monet, one of his favorite characters) to be part of Ororo's team

I think the Giant-Size X-Men are quite out of touch with the Dawn of X books. Other than confirming Warlock's presence alongside Cypher and Illyana knowing about it, I don't think these one-shots will have more impact
