It's a shame he wasn't more involved with this Legion because Giffen really knew how to write for him.

I agree about Jo. I never liked him before, but this issue showed him as far more relatable and human.

Ultra Boy was always one of my favorites - and this issue made me like him even more. That's what was always so great about the Legion. There were so many members and each member had their own fanbase.

Before reading Legion issue 19 you have to read Adventures of Superman 478 since it is a direct tie in and shows what led to the moon exploding. It is even included in the omnibus.

I loved his powers. He really seemed to have to work for it, since he often had to turn off his invulnerability to get in a good hit, or use flash vision or a burst of speed, which made it 'feel' much riskier than if Mon-El or Superboy just went in punching, since, generally, few things could really hurt them. It was always fun to see various Legionnaires who had 'lesser' powers than the 'big guns' for whatever reason, whether it was folk like Bouncing Boy or Shadow Lass or Triplicate Girl, or had 'powers' like 'really smart' or 'knows karate and never gives up' but still is out there making a difference alongside folk with a half-dozen super-powers.

His personality was the selling point, 'though. Every group needs some friction, or it's just super-boring competence porn. Gotta have that drama!

When we finally got to the telling of what happened at Venado Bay, with Rokk and Salu - wow. Just broke my heart. One of the times this run made me choke up.(and there were a few) Crazy that Rokk didn't even realize Salu was there. (from what I recall of the story)

Agree. There were several great scenes with Rokk and Vi in this series. I'm not sure I ever remember these two speaking a word to each other in any previous Legion book (I'm probably forgetting some) but give it to Giffen & Co for coming up with a great dynamic between the two in this book.

This was always a tough book to read if you were someone who loved the characters of the Legion. Blok was blown to pieces, Vi lost an eye and a leg, Lightning Lad dead and replaced by Proty, Timberwolf was now a hairy beast, etc... As great as this issue was - and it was one of the best - I almost stopped reading it for what they did to Sun Boy. Never again did I purchase an issue that I didn't have a knot in my stomach for fear of what they might do to one of my favorite characters.

Legion of Super Bloggers review of issue #22 - Furball (Timberwolf) comes to the aid of Aria and her friend as they continue to flee from Darkseid. Unfortunately, Lobo is hot on their trail. When Valor (Mon-El) investigates a Dark Circle base, he discovers info on 'Operation Doppelganger'. How does this affect the Legion? It's a biggie.
