Default What's your favorite city or location in the DC Universe?

I was just thinking about settings and locations and it made me think, what's y'all favorite DC city or location? what do you think it's like there? what's their culture like? like what's their music scene like in your head? how would you compare it to real life locations? which ones would you compare them too? other stuff, stuff like that, you ain't gotta answer all these questions; these are just what I was thinking. pick one, talk about it, get into it man.

THE SIGNAL (Duke Thomas) is DC's secret shonen protagonist so I made him a fandom wiki

also, check out "The Signal Tape" a Duke Thomas fan project.

    currently following:
    • DC: Red Hood: The Hill
    • Marvel: TBD
    • Manga (Shonen/Seinen): One Piece, My Hero, Dandadan, Jujutsu Kaisen, Kaiju No. 8, Reincarnation of The Veteran Soldier, Oblivion Rouge, ORDEAL, The Breaker: Eternal Force

Vixen's African country of Zambesi is my favorite DC Universe location, but DC rarely does anything with it. And when they do, they almost always make it sound like a village or something that is barren and has little life to it. I think it would be cool if they retconned Zambesi to be a country known for magic, like Wakanda in the Marvel Universe is known for its technology.

Themyscira, Fawcett City, or Mogo if sentient environments count.

If you can overlook certain ... social inequities, I imagine New Genesis would be an amazing place to visit. It's probably as much a paradise as Themyscira, but I imagine there are better amenities due to the New Genesis's adoption of super-science.(and I wouldn't be allowed to set foot on Themyscira anyway)

In terms of storytelling, Hub city was such a great, disaster of a run-down corrupt city that it was a great backdrop for The Question. Would never want to go there.

Silver Age Central City, where the skyscrapers rise three miles high and the outskirts of city are paved flat with concrete for a radius of at least twenty miles outside the inhabited areas.

Opal City seems like one of the best place to live in the DC Universe, and the architecture is really something.

I always thought that Krypton and the Phantom Zone could give more in terms of stories than what we got.

And for superhero bases and headquarters I choose Fortress of Solitude, The Tower of Destiny and the House of Mistery and House of Secrets.

Metropolis of the 30th century, would be my number one choice.

But Themyscira, Atlantis, Tamaran, Gorilla City, various other worlds in the 30th century (like Talok VIII), all the cool far-out fantasy places are awesome.

But for a more down to earth present-day DC city, Dakota city, from the Static Shock cartoon, had a neat vibe.

    Another "other" vote for Opal.

You magnificent son of a bitch.

Putting "obvious choice" made me pause and think, okay, I won't go with those two because yeah that's too obvious. What stands out the most after them?

Smallville Star, Keystone and Central City seem like the clear frontrunners, but I gotta send some love to a forgotten classic of yesteryear.

    Opal City.

Robinson made that place feel like it stood shoulder-to-shoulder with Gotham and it's got so much character that even those two lack at times. It has a unique look and feel that matches Jack Knight to a T. Wonderful setting that I wish had more play in DC, but then I remember Bludhaven's fate in 2006 so perhaps it's for the best.

    I eventually chose Bludhaven.
I thought the work that Chuck Dixon and Scott McDaniel did on the Nightwing book was stellar.

I also really liked the Keystone that Geoff Johns put forward.
