Jimmy was a kid. There was fair bit of undercurrents of father-son relationship between the two in the old comic. In fact, jimmy was actually the first jon. He was created so that clark can access a different market and have someone to talk to.

I DO like what they're doing with Aquaman. His daughter is adorable. I only wish they could have gone in an organic direction like that for Superman if he had to have a child. Which I still prefer not, but that certainly wouldn't have been terrible.
