Me too, I never understand the amazement of Batman: Year One. Sure it's a hard-boiled, noir, crime comic that is still one of the best. But to me as a year one story, Man Without Fear is still an infinitely much better story.

I loved Long Halloween so much I initially refused to buy Dark Victory because I pretentiously convinced myself I “didn’t want to spoil the original with a sequel.”

Found a Dark Victory trade for cheap years later and decided to try it, much to my delight. Loved it, too.

When I read these, oh some 16 years ago, it was back to back in the nice editions everyone could find at Barnes & Noble, my friend had both, I read them both cover to cover in one sitting. So to me they're impossible to separate because it feels like one story.

Long Halloween. Even though I dislike several things about it, especially the plot at the very end, Dark Victory has too many things that really bother me, specifically the hanging.

Dark Victory if only because it ends a little happier, has Robin, and Chief O'Hara is in there for two pages .

Was pretty close for me but I now strongly prefer Long Halloween purely because the title of this trade is an abomination

Batman: The Long Halloween Deluxe Edition The Sequel: Dark Victory? Absolutely disgusting.

I like Dark Victory quite a bit but Long Halloween is my favorite Bat story ever (other than maybe Morrisons overall run).

I love The Long Halloween, it's a favourite of mine.

    I find Dark Victory... Meh.

Dan Watters' Azrael was incredible, a constant delight and perhaps too good for this world (but not the Forth). For the love of St. Dumas, DC, give us more!!!

The Long Halloween is still my favorite comic book story, but I easily enjoy Dark Victory's story more than The Long Halloween's animated adaptation. But then I prefer stubbing my toe, really hard, over that sad lame loosely inspired and insipid thing, so...
