Well the Horsemen of Apocalypse are 'Harbingers' of his arrival
From Google...
Middle English: from Old French herbergere, from herbergier ‘provide lodging for’, from herberge ‘lodging’, from Old Saxon heriberga ‘shelter for an army, lodging’ (from heri ‘army’ + a Germanic base meaning ‘fortified place’), related to harbor. The term originally denoted a person who provided lodging, later one who went ahead to find lodgings for an army or for a nobleman and his retinue, hence, a herald (mid 16th century).

I enjoy the lore but Hickman isn't the best storyteller, he likes to toss a whole mess of new characters and concepts that didn't previously exist and expects everyone to immediately care about them and treat them as if they always existed. His best approach on this was his Fantastic Four run as he used pre-existing characters and concepts and built from there. Since then he's used a bunch of new lore and a couple of light anchors to tie them to continuity (his SHIELD, Avengers, and now Apocalypse with this new lore). I don't mind the lore, it's interesting, but it's just dumped here en masse with the build up being very light using Excalibur (due to its' Apocalypse usage) and one prior issue of X-Men that focused on The Summoner for the bulk of the build up.
I do think it's a bit corny that Apocalypse's children and kin in the other realms have names like Genesis, Annihilation (I'm assuming this is one of his kin if it's not just Genesis in disguise, given her Egyptian motif and name, she also has a headdress or helmet resembling one of the final horsemen), and I'd bet on White Sword being one of the first horsemen as well, perhaps Conquest/Pestilence (given the white motif) or War (given the sword as his weapon).
Like I said the lore is interesting, I just wish it was built up a bit better and spread out more over time instead of dumped into one issue. Reminds me of latter day Claremont with The Neo, but this is more interesting lore than that was.
I have absolutely no idea of what I just read.
Reading List (Super behind but reading them nonetheless):
DC: Currently figuring that out

Very late to this, but I thought it was fantastic. More great worldbuilding, and lore being created for the X-Men. I love getting to see more of the second generation of Mutants being explored. Though I'm not sure I always understand it lol. Yu really shines when doing more fantastical work like this, as opposed to some of the more human looking X-Men. His style really connects with the story here.
