Default MCU: should they do Death of Captain Marvel (Carol)?

What if a few sequels and other movies from now they do secret wars parts One and Two. In part two Doom has taken over the universe and the MCU Heroes including FF, X-Men etc fight back. Carol saves the day but is exposed to lethal amounts of radiation. She passes in a bittersweet epilogue with friends and family at her side...
Your thoughts and feelings on this? We probably need a few more female heroes before this happens...

They did do the death of Captain Marvel. But they called her Natasha Romanov. Doing it again would be...pandering.

Technically, they did it. They said there was a warrior named Mar-Vell. But she was female in this version and she died,
    Power with Girl is better.

Nobody wants a depressing superhero movie. Certainly not Disney.

I hope that Secret Wars monstrosity never moves to the big screen.

wasn't that the whole point of Annette Benning's Mar-Vell? I think they wouldn't want to do that since Jane Foster will be dealing (hopefully) with Cancer in her trilogy.

It's the most obvious climax to bringing the FF and X-Men into the MCU.

Although I'm at a total loss to understand how that relates to the death of Captain Marvel.

In part two THANOS has taken over the universe and the MCU Heroes ...fight back. TONY saves the day but is exposed to lethal amounts of radiation. HE passes in a bittersweet epilogue with friends and family at HIS side...

    It's been done, mate.
    Sounds perfect.

Passing away in an epilogue seems to contradict the whole point of the story itself - that he wasted away from cancer, not dying in a blaze of glory, or doing it to save the day. The radiation Marvel was exposed to was some seemingly unimportant event that happened before the graphic novel even started.

Maybe do it ten years from now with Ruffalo's Bruce Banner (cancer from gamma radiation of course) as a special on Disney+. People show up, he dies slowly, people cry. Mabye it leads to something else important in the MCU, but that's it.

Yeah, based on whose readily available now, taking that premise and applying it to Ruffalo’s Hulk makes the most sense.

Assuming, of course, they don’t already plan to do it with Jane Foster

The Death of Captain Marvel got an OGN because A) The character existed as an ashcan to keep license on Captain Marvel, B) Mahr-Vel was a real bore, C) He was disposable.

There's no exigency and demand to do the story with Carol Danvers.

Only C) is not legitimately debatable. B) is not even close. Starlin does not do boring characters.

The Capt Marvel is one of their most profitable movies. Why would the kill her off?

It's too bad they didn't think to do this story way back in the early days of the Marvel movies. The Jim Starlin book is a beautiful piece of visual story-telling and, if they had adapted it then, it would have served to set up story lines that paid off in later movies.

It would be impossible to do it now and have the same effect.

I expect they will eventually side-line the Carol Danvers C.M.--when Brie Larson is fed up with doing the movies--and they have already provided a woman of colour to take over the role one day. But trying to graft Starlin's story onto Carol wouldn't work.

I disagree, and I really don't think the plot means anything at all unless you're an avid paper comics-reading nerd like most of us. There really wasn't much of a point to any of it. And there is no multriverse to crash and burn for MCU. Worst Marvel crossover until Civil War 2 and Empyre.

Fox has run the X-franchise into the bloody ground and nothing is worth salvaging from it. There hasn't been a viable FF in forever. Best to start completely over from scratch in the MCU.

And try to get it right this time.
