Default List of Characters Seemingly Based On Or Influenced By Black Lightning

    Name: Jefferson Pierce
Profession: Teacher/Principal/Secretary of Education; Former Olympic Decathlete
Powers and Abilities: Electromagnetic manipulation; Energy absorption; Force field generation; Expert martial artist; Olympic-level athlete; Peak physical conditioning; Some Level of Magic Resilience (Black Lightning: Year One)

Let's list out the characters seemingly based on or influenced by Black Lightning--

    1. Black Vulcan
    Name: Unknown
    Profession: Unknown
Powers and Abilities: His powers include the ability to emit electricity from his hands. He can also fly by charging his lower body with energy. On a few occasions, he has exhibited powers he had not shown before, such as the ability to assume a form of pure energy and travel at the speed of light (in an unsuccessful attempt to escape a black hole.) He was able to travel back in time by fluctuating his body's energy to open a rift in space-time. Black Vulcan is able to spot-weld microelectronics.
Notes: Created by Hanna Barbera because of legal disputes between DC and Black Lightning's creator Tony Isabella.

    2. Static
Name: Virgil Ovid Hawkins (Named after Virgil D. Hawkins)
    Profession: Student; Medical Doctor
Powers and Abilities: Electromagnetic phenomena generation and manipulation (colored whitish-purple pale blue-white); Generation of electrostatic force-fields; Electroreception ; Electrocommunication; Energy absorption and redirection/transmutation; Flight via electrostatic disc plate; Keen Scientific Mind; Expert Strategist; Technopathy; Regenerative Healing (able to recover and cauterize detached limbs); Electricity/Lightning Empowerment; Magnetic Empowerment; Electronic Disruption; Psionic Immunity; Manipulation of subatomic particles; Data Manipulation
Notes: Original cartoon costume color scheme based on Black Lightning's original costume color scheme; sometimes mentored by Black Lightning; superhero name sounds like the name you'd expect from Jefferson's version of Robin or Wonder Girl; the fact that he's a student who got his powers from a gang war and that Black Lightning is a teacher from the inner city may indicate that he was actually conceptualized as a sidekick to Black Lightning before Milestone published the character.

Well, technically this guy is based on Black Vulcan, right? It's like the Mia Darden (comic) > Thea (Arrow) > Emiko (comic) > Emiko (Arrow) adaptation thing on Green Arrow.

Juice, from the Ultimen on Justice League Unlimited series.

    Thanks!

    3. Juice
    Name: Unknown
    Profession: Celebrity Superhero
Powers and Abilities: Juice had the power of electrokinesis; he could generate and control electricity. He could also transform himself into living electricity and transport himself as an electric current, similar to Livewire. Juice was mostly silent, but when he did speak, a bolt of electricity changed his voice into a low gravel.
Notes: Juice is an update of Black Vulcan, who was created as a fill-in for Black Lightning (who himself could not be used at all in the DCAU because of disputes between DC and Tony Isabella, Black Lightning's creator).

    4. Soul Power
    Name: Morris Grant
    Profession: Unknown
Powers and Abilities: In the early 1960s, Morris gained his electric powers in an accident when he got in the way of a group of thugs trying to sabotage the hydroelectric plant at Hoover Dam. During the fight, Morris was knocked into the generators. Rather than being killed, or at least severely injured, Morris' body absorbed the electric energy, allowing him to generate the energy output equivalent of ten turbines.
Notes: Appearing in Static Shock, he's clearly a Black Lightning analogue.

    5. Sparky
    Name: Philip Rollins
    Profession: Unknown
Powers and Abilities: Built himself an electrically charged suit when he was a teenager, which parallels the electromagnetic belt Black Lightning debuted with.
Notes: Soul Power's retired former sidekick.

Lightning Lad and Lightning Lass in the current Legion of Super-Heroes are black, which honestly makes them look like Black Lightning legacy characters.

There's also Thunder and Lightning, Jefferson's kids, who appear in his Arrowverse show.

    Profession: Professional Superhero
Powers and Abilities:Electricity generation and manipulation; Limited weather control; Ability to move at superhuman speed by channeling electricity internally
Notes: While not originally based on Black Lightning, the race-change brought about in DC's Rebirth visually links the characters.

    Profession: Professional Superhero
Powers and Abilities: Electricity generation and manipulation; Limited weather control; Ability to move at superhuman speed by channeling electricity internally

Interesting, both created in 1977, Black Lightning at the beginning and Black Vulcan at the end. Does DC have the Hanna Barbera rights to the 78 superfriends?

They have the rights to the Super Friends characters, who have already appeared in the comics.

    8. Third Raikage
    Name: A
    Profession: Ninja; Raikage
Powers and Abilities: Master of the Black Lightning technique.
Notes: Black Lightning is a unique form of Lightning Release utilised by the Third Raikage, who passed it on to Darui alone.

    9. Darui
    Name: Darui
    Profession: Ninja; Raikage
Powers and Abilities: Darui was once a student of the Third Raikage. During his training, Darui learned, among other things, the Raikage's unique black lightning technique.
Notes: Also appears to have been influenced by Marvel's Black Panther, since his Black Lightning takes the shape of a Black Panther.

Powers and Abilities: Electrokinesis and Electromagnetism; Ionic Manipulation; Electrical Resistance; Superhuman Strength and Durability; Superhuman Speed, Reflexes, and Agility; Healing Factor

    Here's a CBR article on it: https://www.cbr.com/super-friends-characters-dc-comics/

The user Guicho probably knows more--

You can find him in these threads:

WOULD ANYONE LIKE TO SEE THE SUPERFRIENDS HOMAGES FROM THE YJ CARTOON?

SHOULD WIND DRAGON (JLU) APPEAR IN DC COMICS?

HOW WOULD YOU INCORPORATE LONG SHADOW AND WIND DRAGON IN THE THE DC UNIVERSE?
