No Man's Land is pretty good, although the beginning of the story is better IMO (when its a real survivalist tale)
I greatly prefer Knightfall overall except for KnightQuest: The Search (detailing Bruce Wayne's globetrotting post- back breaking) as it just spins its wheels until they get him recovered & back to Gotham to take on Azrael
No Man's Land was the first time Gotham City was defined as a 3 islands city and the map that's still used to this day was first created. That's my main reason getting it.
It's probably one of the greatest examples of a line wide crossover that works (pre-2000's).
It's pretty amazing to see the Bat-Family take on a different aspect of a Gotham in ruins.
It's where my modern day Batman collection starts. I have the major stories collected in trades pre-No Man's Land, but from there on, I have everything. So I count it as my starting point. Love it.
I will check those out.. thank you.
And by everything, I mean I have the majority of Batman stories collected in trade paperback. Between Batman and Detective Comics, up to Rebirth, when I started collecting individual issues. Do I have literally EVERYTHING collected since No Man's Land? No lol.
I've read Year One and some of the older stuff; unfortunately it just doesn't gel with my reading sensibilities.
I find the older stuff a bit too wordy (for example I love Thor and I tried tried Simonson and I hated it), but if you have something that must read please I would love some recommendations.
