It's probably easier to answer what characters DC actually does know what to do with in the comics, but for a short list of characters DC messes up despite repeated tries:

Superman. This is probably the biggest offense. It seems DC can't consistently get the character right, and the wrong people frequently get a hold of him.

Cyborg. He's been pretty lame ever since the New 52. Despite all of DC's halfhearted attempts at boosting the character, in the end, I don't think any of it worked out to the character's benefit.

Hawkman. I honestly didn't read his latest series, because Robert Venditti is not a writer that excites me, but DC has a long track record of mishandling this character. The same goes for the likes of Donna Troy and Power Girl, but I would say Hawkman is more egregious because he bears the weight of an entire mythology in the DCU on his back, while the other characters are mostly extra flavors to ensemble casts. and are support players in other characters' mythologies.

This is true, and what makes It infuriating is that they keep compounding it by making more derivative characters (which they will also mismanage) rather then fixing the surplus characters they have.

I was going to say both Hawkgirl/man and Elongated Man, but Frontier already had it covered.

Go over to the Superman forum where they’re talking about ways to break up Superman and Lois and get rid of Jon, before you start complaining.

The subject of this thread is the publisher/creators. The subject of your (💯 legit) complaint is the fans. Not the same thing.

How could people not like Jon?

Granted, I haven’t read anything with him since they aged him up...but kid Jon was a fun read.

Not quite. Robinson had a clear ending in mind for Jack and his story concluded at the end of Starman.
