Was hard to follow for a small bit at the start but become intreging as it went along, honestly a very strange story and great set design made this one of that long-lasting gems I never knew about before a honor to watch.

Another one of those silent movie hide gems seeing back where allot of these classic stories all start in the movies! It is a good story on the lack of faith of one man and how that quest leads him into creating the worst form of himself, compelling to the end with good camera for its time IMO.

Besides another classic from the early days of the movies, this movie was Massive in Scope! Their where thousands on set at a given time giving such a great scope to the story of Paris and Notre Dame itself and this was in the Decades and Decades before CGI that truly made me appriate how movies had to bring in so many people to make the world come alive and I love being remind of that in Movies like this!

Also the acrobatics on the sides of Notre Dame by Quasimodo where impressive to watch of the early days of stunts.

A thoroughly goofy but occasionally pretty enjoyable mix of the werewolf and whodunnit genres. This is an Amicus production, and it definitely feels very Amicus-y. By which I mean it's got all the class of a Hammer movie but not quite as much wit.

It's most notable for the infamous "werewolf break", where the movie actually stops for 30 seconds right before the climax and an offscreen voice asks the audience if they can deduce who the werewolf is. (And the answer is, no, you can't, really. It's impossible to tell the clues from the red herrings) It's as ridiculous as it sounds, and I would say it destroys the movie's momentum, except...what momentum?

    38. Halloween II (1981) A direct sequel to the first film, it picks up immediately where its predecessor left off and has Michael Myers continue his pursuit of Laurie Strode at the Haddonfield Memorial Hospital where she has been taken for treatment of her injuries following her first encounter with The Shape. While better than a lot of the movies to follow, it falls well short of the original, and makes for a rather lopsided double bill.

    39. Carnival Of Souls (1962) Regarded more for its visual style and memorable organ soundtrack than the acting, the film often has an unsettling, surreal, dreamlike atmosphere, and the ghouls are still pretty creepy after nearly 60 years. Cited as an influence by both George Romero and David Lynch. I'm not a huge fan of old b/w horror from that era, but Carnival Of Souls always struck me as being rather unique despite its shortcomings and limitations, and is a film I'll make a point of watching when I want something a bit different from my usual Halloween season viewing.

    October 16. 32 - Never Hike Alone: A Friday The 13th Fan Film (2017)

Quite well made story of a hiking vlogger who stumbles upon Crystal Lake. The only change needed to make it a "proper" F13 movie would be add a group of secondary characters to get killed (and at least one to get naked) intercut with the hiker. It's clearly made by fans of the series and people who actually know what they're doing regarding production, this isn't just some college kids with their iPhones in the woods.

    Damn right.

    37. Halloween (1978) Another of my all time favorites, which I have no problem watching multiple times, especially around Halloween. One thing I'll point out which I don't see mentioned very often, if you're a stickler for details, the early scenes in daylight will likely drive you nuts, as the time of day and atmospheric conditions shift wildly over the course of just a few short minutes, at one point it appears to be late afternoon/evening with the sun low in the sky, then it immediately cuts to bright midday sunlight, followed shortly thereafter by overcast skies with everything damp from rain, then back to a clear, dry and sunny afternoon. The entire segment was obviously filmed at different times, and possibly on completely different days, then pieced together afterwards, but on casual viewing it can impart a rather unsettling, surrealistic effect, the feeling things aren't quite right.
I can pretend the time-of-day stuff is deliberate. It Follows does something similar where the time of year and general setting seems to jump around.

But what does bother me in Halloween is that there are parts where you can see palm trees in the background and California license plates in "Haddonfield, Illinois." Stuff like that, I wouldn't mind if it was digitally brushed out for a future edition.

I've only watched It Follows once, so I'll have to make a point of paying closer attention the next time I see it. I'm with you on the various cuts during the daylight scenes, the entire sequence still plays out very organically, and I see the daylight continuity errors less as a problem and more of an oddity. Now the background palm trees are an issue for me, they're only seen briefly, but once you notice them it's difficult to buy the idea of Haddonfield ILLINOIS, California license plates I'm more forgiving of, as well as everything being lush and green (I imagine it's fall weather arriving late and summer hanging on past its expiration date. Also, living it southeast Texas my entire life that's what it looks like here in the autumn), though another scene that pulls me out of the movie is Loomis at the cemetery after finding Judith Myers gravestone missing, in the background you can see live springtime flowers and also hear birds chirping on the audio track.

The idea of a horror movie featuring Paul Bunyan interested me. The design of Paul is also really good.

That's about the only thing you can say is good about this movie. The special effects are really bad. Most of the young adults are fair at best, but this movie features maybe the worst "crazy old man" I've ever seen in a movie as well as a jerk cop/jerk drill Sgt that we spend far too much time with. The plot, the gore, and especially the costumes seen in the flashback, nothing in this movie really works.

It was cool seeing Lon Chaney Jr. playing another icon monster role as Dracula's decendent and using the Alucard title to his name as well. Lon Chaney Jr. did a nice job commanding the role and the twists in where the story was going where interesting in where it ended up. A Good Dracula that is outside of Bela Lugosi!

If thier is one Piece of Advice I give to the Priests of Karnak that have been the masterminds of these last few Mummy Movies; STOP getting horny over the lead Girls, you might honestly achieve your missions if not for that!

Most of the same styles as the last movies, but Lon Chaney Jr. has become the Main for of now 3 Icon Univeresal Monsters and he has done well in all the roles.

Also more darker of a story by the end, which still leads to no one is safe or happy ever afters in beating the monsters, Who Said Old Movies where safe LOL.

This is an highly Unrated Classic now that I have seen it! If it is not underated that is good, but still this was well Done. Bela Lugosi as his most classic Vampire role, he was not Dracula in this movie but he might as well been. Also adding the Servants of the vampire like a werewolve was a great add on to expand the lore of Vampires being the master class of monsters.

Another from this series now off my “never saw” list.

Tough to call it better than the first one, as it’s essentially the same movie with a different cast. The comparison has ups and downs; this sequel has better camper characters and a scarier killer, bit it has a much dumber ending and lacks a personality for the villain.

    40. Halloween 4: The Return Of Micheal Myers (1988)
    41. Halloween 5: The Revenge Of Micheal Myers (1989)

These are kind of a package deal when it comes to the Halloween sequels, mainly due to 5 continuing a year after the events of 4 and the appearance of several cast members in the same roles in both films. Ratings tend to be negative for these two, but I enjoy them and each have their charms. 4 has the better story , while 5 makes effective use of light and shadow to create an effectively spooky atmosphere in the latter half of the movie during the barn and outdoor scenes at the farm, and inside the "Myers house". Also, Danielle Harris gives a good performance for a child actor in her role as Jamie Lloyd across both films. Negatives include the Micheal Myers mask in both being probably the worst of all the films, the introduction of "The Man In Black" in 5 for no discernable reason (which gets explained in 6, but is better skipped altogether imo), and seeing the onscreen decline of Donald Pleasance.

Halloween H 20: 20 Years Later (1998) The sequel which brought back Jamie Lee Curtis in the role of Laurie Strode and dispensed with everything following Halloween II, after the events of Halloween 1978 in Haddonfield, Laurie has faked her own death and established a new identity, eventually winding up working a a private school in California, but after 20 years, Micheal has finally found her, and her 17 year old son. Definitely one of the stronger sequels of the franchise.

    43. Tenebrae (1982) Considered one of, if not the last great film from Italian director Dario Argento, more a thriller/murder mystery, the uncut version still contains a number of inventive and bloody death scenes which put those seen in plenty of horror movies to shame. As with old b/w horror, I'm not a big fan of giallo, but sometimes it's a nice change of pace.

October 17th. 33 - Never Hike in the Snow: A Friday The 13th Fan Film (2020)

Followup (prequel?) to Never Hike Alone, it looks great but is only half an hour long and seems to mostly serve to set up another installment. If the next one is similar in length, I hope they get edited together to run as one movie. It wouldn't be hard to be better than some official installments in the series.

I've long wanted to see Jason in a wintry setting, it's cool that the makers of this had the same idea. Another character and actor from Part VI returns. I hope they can keep that going and have other survivors show up. How about Tina the telekinetic? Or Ginny, who gave Jason his first defeat in Part 2?
