It is Finally HAMMER TIME and Really I have been looking forward to all of these Movies Under the Frankenstein, Mummy and Dracula Mythoes they have created! They are legends in so many words and so Far they have not dissapointed at all!

But Most Importantly is Peter Cushing!

Honeslty I have gained such an appriation for him as an actor threw these movies so far and His Victor Frankenstein honestly has to be My Favorite potrial of the character ever. Brings Life and Action to Victor's character, it is not wonder outside of Christopher Lee that Peter Cushing was the Star of Hammer and these movies have given me a greater appriation of the Classic characters more then ever before! =)

In the midst of the reign of science-horror movies, this was a slight return to old-fashioned monsters. But VERY slight, because the werewolf was created by evil scientists via a serum. He's more like the Hulk than anything; a vagabond wandering around town, trying to keep his distance from people because heightened emotion triggers his transformation.

Everyone is bland as dry white toast, nothing worth seeing here.

    60. Eraserhead (1977) David Lynch's first feature film, which is often lumped in with horror, and though some may point to the grotesque "baby" creature linking it to the genre, it's mainly the bleakly stark settings combined with the innovative for the time sound design of constantly droning ambience and industrial sounds which give the film its creepy and unsettling atmosphere.

    61. Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1920) Silent film adaptation of the 1886 novella The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson, starring John Barrymore in the roles of Jekyll and Hyde.

    October 25. 48 - Dracula (1979). 49 - Old Dracula (1974).

Based on the play as Lugosi's was, but in color and with more cinematic additions and alterations to the story. Score by John Williams. I like Frank Langella as the count and Laurence Olivier as a heartbroken Van Helsing. Donald Pleasance plays Dr. Seward as somewhat comic relief. I like to think he's the grandfather of Dr. Loomis from Halloween. This one puts the story entirely in England, 1913. It still falls into feeling very much like a filmed play by the second act due to a dearth of characters and locations. There's an unfortunate choice made a couple times to have Dracula attack someone in bat form which always looks silly. Given that he turns into a wolf other times, I don't know why they didn't just go with that. An actor wrestling with a dog looks way better than wrestling with a fake bat.

David Niven in a light spoof. Originally called by Vampira but renamed for North American to cash in on Young Frankenstein. It's not terrible but it's damn sure no Young Frankenstein. The real Drac and his butler have turned Castle Dracula into a hokey tourist attraction in order to collect blood samples the means to revove Dracula's vampire bride. It works, but with an unexpected side effect so they have to follow a group of Playmates to London to get more samples. There are some good jokes but a whole lot of nothing-scenes.

Tingler - Vincent Price thriller about a theoretical parasite all humans have that feeds on our fear and lives on our spinal column. Used to see this one as a kid, loved it then and still thought it was great. By the way, this critter is the inspiration for the ear critter in Wrath of Kahn. Has to be. Cheating wives and bored (but not cheating) husbands again a big theme. How was Price's marriage anyhow? Beginning to wonder.

Oblong Box - Another Poe-based movie that had nothing to do with the original story. In spite of some good performances, this movie was pretty much a dud. Borderline racist, too, as the story revolves around voodoo and black people doing spooky black people things.

Ghost Galleon - Ghost ship, ghouls living on it, supernatural fog, etc. A slog of a bad movie that was hard to get through. Do not recommend.

    62. Ed Wood (1994) Dramatized biography of the cult sci fi/horror filmmaker set in the 1950s, during the production of his most well known movies, directed by Tim Burton and starring Johnny Depp as the lead, with Martin Landau giving a fantastic performance in a supporting role as Bela Lugosi. I remember when the movie came out and having reservations, I enjoyed Burton's previous films, but at first glance, Ed Wood seemed to be quite a departure from what he had done to that point, so I was more than a little skeptical of what I saw as a "biographic documentary" of a fringe director I had little knowledge of at the time. I went into the theater seeing it for the first time with low expectations and ended up loving it, and to this day view it as Burton's best film.

    63. Bride Of The Monster (1955) After watching Tim Burton's tribute to the director, what better way to follow it up than with an actual Edward D. Wood Jr. production? Went with this one over the more celebrated Plan 9, which apparently had the largest budget of any of his films, and I think the additional money does show somewhat in the production values. Wood may have been voted "worst director of all time" in 1980, but with Bride, if you look past the laughbly bad monster/octopus effects and scenes, stock footage, and Tor Johnson's performance, the remainder strikes me as comparable to other B-movies of the time.

I rewatch this movie every couple of years just to confirm that it still doesn't quite work. There's a fine line you've got to walk when making a horror comedy, and this movie doesn't walk it; it spends half its time on one side of the line and half on the other side.

Eddie Murphy is actually quite good at the straight vampire parts. He's also, naturally, very good at the comedic shapeshifting into other characters. But the two clash, and the fact that the vampire's helpers are all constantly wisecracking while the cops on the other side are completely humorless doesn't help matters either.

26b. Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday (1993)
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jason_...e_Final_Friday

With this, I have now seen all of the original Friday the 13th series. Though honestly, I feel like I could have said that after watching Part VIII. This one isn't numbered, and the story doesn't fit at all with the previous movies, so I'm frankly not sure why this isn't considered the first reboot.

I didn't hate this, but I feel like I probably would have if I'd been watching the movies as they came out. The movie looks good, and it's well made (aside from the kind of stupid plotting and character decisions you often have to contend with in horror movies).

Also, seriously, what the hell was with the 90s and plots about slasher villains having to chase heretofore unknown blood-relations in order to complete some kind of prophecy and/or spell?

This guy is one of my favorite "love to hate" characters ever, right up there with Sgt. Rhodes-Joe Pilato (RIP) from Day of the Dead.

Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things - Flipping through my choices on Amazon last night I saw this movie was available for free and did the remote drop. Its one of my favorite zombie flicks of all time right up there with all of Romero's stuff. Its one of those classic low budget horror movies that just really works and earns its cult status. A theatre troupe go out to a deserted island on some kind of bonding campout thing and end up getting pwned by a bunch of zombies. There really isn't anything I don't love about this flick, even through some critics just can't stand anything about it. Definitely recommended. You'll either love it or hate it within the first 20 minutes.

    64. The House On Haunted Hill (1959) The Vincent Price classic, been a few years since I last watched it, and I have a tendency to avoid the film since it tended to be a staple Saturday afternoon movie on TV when I was a kid, the acid vat and skeleton scene have long been seared into my mind seeing it so often growing up. I wouldn't say it scared me, more than it creeped me out at such a young age. Anyway, it is a fun movie to revisit every now and then, the barbs traded between Price's Frederick Loren and his wife Annabelle, played by Carol Ohmart, near the beginning of the film are alone worth the price of admission.

    65. Sleepy Hollow (1999) I've always loved the visuals of this film, and its grey, moody atmosphere, really puts me into a spooky, autumn frame of mind. I have friends who are long time Tim Burton fans, so Sleepy Hollow is another movie I'm guaranteed to see at least once this time of year. I tend to remember a lot of complaints about it not being faithful to the original Washington Irving story at the time the film was released, though I'm generally ok with the liberties taken, it was, after all, a movie adaptation and never purported to be a faithful retelling, I just try to ignore the exploding windmill.
