Congratulations Scott Taylor, for a cover of a series I had long forgotten. And thanks to everyone who participated, I was a wee bit surprised there was no Hot Stuff cover from Harvey Comics. Superman, as usual, manages to show up (is there a contest he doesn't show up in?), and there were some surprise covers too.
I was trying to find that panel from JLA/Avengers #4 which had all the heroes and villains with fire and ice powers battling it out, but couldn't find just that panel by itself.

Not that it changes the final result, but Surf got 2 votes.
And congratulations to Scott.
Meanwhile, my attempt to appeal the youth vote appears to have failed. Back to the drawing board.

Congrats to Scott T. I know that John is credited, but there is a lot of Marie in that cover, especially the Kull figure.
There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!
Congratulations to Scott taylor for a a Marvelous cover showing the Howard back-up character fighting an amazingly and yet oddly offputting cover. It's very rare that marvel showed an icy figure being actually transparent. Seeing the skeleton underneath was creepy. It is a cover I did NOT pay enough attention to during voting.
The Peak of the Week where the captain rambles on about what he has learned this contest happens now. Fire and Ice are two opposing forces of nature. However, an extraordinary number of these covers showed those opposing forces actually bonding together in opposition to our heroes. Well, sometimes just with the power sets, but still, it's a big deal. During the earlier days, I wonder if that imagery was noted by youthful readers as it may have been by the writers churning out stores. Forces of nature, or cool bad guy powers? Go reread your old stuff with a new mind.
Thanks go to Nschornhorst and the previously mentioned Scott Taylor for their much appreciated votes.
