i loved how the champion vs champion battle that will lead us to the saga is being described as Otherworld rules. It is a nice nod to the opening Excalibur story arch when [A] challenges morgan lee fay for Avalon trough a battle of betsy vs dark brian

He is En Sabah Nur. He does not ask, he tells you what to do. Traditionally, he has always been strategic, ruthless and inconsiderate. He has always been about the survival of the fittest more than anything. He is the antithesis of weakness. Having him act like a wimp is blasphemous to his character’s legacy.

It's crazy that Hickman did this much in a single issue while Tini is struggling to tell a cohesive story. I know she helped out a bit this issue but her weak writing could barely be felt at all and the book is better for it. Hopefully it stays that way.

What is Apocalypse going to do to force someone to accompany him to Otherworld? Threatening to kill them? He is acting without the authorization of the Council, he has no real or legal capacity to force anyone to do anything.

He can't even threaten them because there are mutants far more powerful than him on Krakoa. It would be an idiot to go "I rule because I am the strongest" when Franklin Richards, Proteus, Monarch or Vulcan can vaporize him without undue effort.

I really enjoyed this first issue and I can't wait to read the rest.

I loved the set up, the characters used (Polaris and Monet especially), I felt for Apocalypse and it is good to see him vulnerable. Magic often confuses me and I admit that I'm not an expert on Otherworld and all that stuff, but once again I love all the world building and setting up new enemies and challenges for the mutants.

Apocalypse is so out of character. For someone who is all about survival of the fittest, he came off very weak and vulnerable. Granted that was his family, why is he so naive and trustful. He barely fought back after he was stabbed. Apocalypse never runs away from a good fight. And why is he going to war with a random bunch of strangers. Whatever happen to his mutant minions that did his bidding back in the day. He would have been better off bringing Gideon and Selene. Homeboy should have brought serious firepower. It’s one thing to be outsmarted but to portray the character with such naïveté is straight up disrespectful. There better be a plot twist. I just expected more from Mr. Survival of the Fittest.

I suspect as a consequence of his resurrection as oppose to his normal rebirth cycle Apoc no longer has celestial tech in him so may not be as durable as he once was.

I honestly find it so hard to believe when people say the age of Krakoa won't last. With all this rich history in such a short time and so much for the rest of the marvel u to now explore and react to, Otherworld, the Eternal Portal, Arrako, the link between summoners and demons. It's like this has made just the marvel u in of itself a huge expanse of places. I can't see it never not being the status quo. Even if it fails it will still exist. The X-world is so detailed and more expansive than even it's mutants now. I love it.

Apocalypse has never actually been all that intriguing. Anything Hickman does is an improvement, this is the first time I've ever been excited about Apocalypse stuff.
