Are there any Mutants respected by the world at large?

So since they were created The Xmen and other mutants have been feared and hated by the world at large. But are there any mutants that the public respects or loves? I am talking about people who are known to be mutants not people who are loved but not known to be mutants.

I dont mean mutants respected by other heroes. I am talking mutants respected by the government or public.

Those who join the Avengers are more accepted.

Sunfire is a national hero in Japan. Justice is respected in the United States because he offers a conservative and passive image.

I'll save everyone the time. No. The ones who joined the Avengers I treated more fairly but all it really takes is one bad press day for public opinion to swing right the other way

Just looking at the OPs previous thread about respected characters in general, which was pretty much just Captain America, I would say that the world at large is going to have vastly different opinions on super power heroes as a whole and certainly individually. I imagine the in story populace probably feels the same as readers do, and mutants such as Wolverine, Storm and Cyclops certainly are met with respect in general. But, like that other thread, when you put Captain America up as the poster child, no one, certainly not an X-Men, comes close and makes it hard to guess.

I know I do these respect threads kind of a lot but I like to think about what Normal people and heroes think not just focus on the random beat them up things of the hero universe.

Would Magneto be respected by the normal person? I i get other mutants would respect him though. Nut I mean he has more then once tried to overthrow humans.

Yes I think he would be one of the most respected Mutants alive. Respect isn’t necessarily the same thing as being liked. People would respect his power/ability and fear what he can and has done with that power.

I think more people fear Magneto than respect him but in the end the difference is semantic.

wasn't Xavier well respected by the public at one point? or was that all before it was revealed to the public that he was a mutant?

There was an issue in Kieron Gillen's run on uncanny where magneto worked with a PR specialist to try and clean up his image i think?

She is respected. The public faces of Krakoa, a Xavier and Magneto are. Storm is worshipped as a goddess in Wakanda. Jean was able to get an audience with the U.N. and call on the Avengers to help with Cassandra Nova.

He's respected by other super beings, not so much the average person whom primarily see him as a terrorist that has killed a ton of humans, destroyed parts of multiple cities and has declared war numerous times
