This cover is part of the reason my childhood died. But man do I love the John Romita Sr. era. my favorite time in comics.

A few of my favorites are winners but damn, no Bob Oksner? Wow, ok, I'll go with some big Nick Cardy then.

For someone different, I decided to go with Jack Cole, creator of Plastic Man.

I think restorative nostalgia is the number one issue with comic book fans.
A fine distinction between two types of Nostalgia:

Reflective Nostalgia allows us to savor our memories but accepts that they are in the past
Restorative Nostalgia pushes back against the here and now, keeping us stuck trying to relive our glory days.

The comic genius of 2012 Voter's Choice winner Gilbert Shelton. See if you can count how many kinds of mayhem that cute napping cat caused.

As it happens, I acquired this hardcover a month ago and it's just gorgeous. Hugely recommended.

Cardy certainly did some of the most innovative covers ever. Great underrated (IMO) artist.

I'll choose the underdog among masters; Curt Swan, with the cover that could possibly be his magnum opus

These were published in Germany, too. Some monsters for Halloween. Ramona Fradon, legend.
