Default 'Spider-Man 3' Jolt: Jamie Foxx Returning as Electro (Hollywood Reporter)

    https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/he...ctro-exclusive

Foxx played Electro in 2014's The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which starred Garfield as Spider-Man. The film failed to impress critics and underperformed at the box office with $708.9 million globally. Those muted box-office returns — along with the 2014 Sony hack — paved the way for Sony to do the unthinkable and strike a deal with Marvel Studios to share the character, leading to Holland starring as the webslinger in the Avengers movies and Marvel talent such as Robert Downey Jr. appearing in Sony's solo Spider-Man films.

It's kinda random but maybe Fiege saw potential in his perfomance that we didn't.

    1). It's Jamie Foxx!
2). I am hoping for the unhinged Max, not what we got last time ... got enough of that in the Ultimate U and the MTV show.
3). Give him a suit please!

I don't think anyone was asking for this other than Feige (who was probably the only person who watched ASM2 and wanted more Electro) but I guess Jamie Foxx deserves better (even if he could've played any other character).

I would expect a much more comic-accurate costume.

Probably but I'm just trying to be positive. I like the MCU but I don't think its perfect. Hell it didn't get really great till Phase 3.

Bear in mind casting for both movies needs to be agreed by both Sony and Marvel. Feige can't unilaterally decide on casting because the nature of these movies is that the actors are under contract to Sony and not to Disney.

Sony writes the paychecks to Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Gyllenhaal and everyone.

It's like that bit in the DCAU version of WORLD'S FINEST where Luthor and Bruce discuss their corporate deal:

Luthor (Feige): Bruce I think I have a say.

Bruce (Sony): Not according to our deal we don't, all defense applications [casting decisions] require my exclusive approval alone. Tell your boys at the pentagon [your fanboys on the net] that I just don't have the imagination.

I’m scratching my head over this one.

A new casting would have had the potential to generate more excitement than this retread will.

I only support the made of clay origin.

I wonder how they will make this about Tony Stark... (RDJ and Foxx are friends - maybe we'll get a flashback with them to set up Electro's origin)

Surprised nobody here has guessed the obvious conclusion this points to, since we know the Multiverse is a thing in the MCU going forward.

    We speculated about that above.

Fiege delivers, unlike Musk. He knows his audience.

As long as its 616 Max dillion. Aggressive and crazy(Much like Foxx in Baby driver. Loved him as bats).

That character wasn't good but they did some cool things with his powers. Think Foxx woulda been better a a different character but I'm fine with this. Just as long as it isn't Ultimates electro again.

I keep expecting Tony's college roommate to be Peter's next villain...

Jamie Foxx is a Best Actor Oscar winner who has consistently given good performances. Him sucking as Electro was clearly a writing problem.

    It ain't that deep.
