I just picked up some older Marvel Team Ups with the Thing on Free Comic Book Day. Looking forward to read 'em, but I actually used the cover of the issue with Thing and Adam Warlock on an art project for my impending son (wife's pregnant, due in August).

Thing is one of Top 10 all time favorite Marvel characters.

I absolutely loved the Slott Solo series that came out years ago. Picked the #1 issue up on a whim and fell in love with the character.

Too bad outside of Hickman's run on the F4, I haven't been interested enough in the series to pick up the books.

I like the Thing in New Avengers.

What are some other good Thing stories in the 5 years or so?

Going back to the Kirby-Lee days he interacted and befriended almost everyone.
Despite looking how he did, he brought a warmth and endearing attitude that no other Marvel character has.

There's something to admire there. No matter how you look, it doesn't change who you are on the inside.
I agree with you about Thing being the heart of the MU. I would also add classic Spider-Man to the mix.

    Just when I forgot.
    Shudder.

Quick mod check: I know images are important in sharing appreciation for characters and to make observations. However, to keep load times speedy, I request that you please limit image sizes where possible. (For example, a cover image probably doesn't need to be big in order for people to see it/remember it/understand it; a page where you're trying to showcase dialogue would likely need to be larger than a cover.)

    Thank you.

    .
The Thing: Idols of Millions collects the whole 8 issue series by Dan Slott.

    You also have:

The Thing: Freakshow - by Geoff Johns and Skott Kollins which collects that mini series.

Loved the sense of humour in the old comics. When Ben… all 7ft of him, bright orange complexion… fancied walking streets of NY incognito he used to whack on a pair of sun glasses and a blue overcoat and venture out. He was never once rumbled… best secret identity of all time.

Favourite Marvel character by a country mile. There's a fair few other characters that I'd love to see him clobber.

I can't believe someone hasn't beaten me to the following...

...one of my utmost favorite Thing (and Torch) stories, ever. Barry Windsor-Smith is on my list of the few who should have had a Fantastic Four creative run.
"Yes, I can do that!" - Ivan Lawrence Blieden

"The true is inimitable, the false untransformable." - Robert Bresson

"The boundaries which divide life from death are at best shadowy and vague. Who shall say where the one ends, and where the other begins?" - Edgar Allan Poe

"Those who believe need no explanation." - Dionysos, The Bacchae by Euripides
