Default DC Next Dawn - October Solicits!

We present to you DC Next Dawn, a collection of all new fan-made issues on “sale” this month, OCTOBER 2020!

What is “DC Next Dawn” and how does it work?

Next Dawn, previously known as “New Dawn,” is a fan fiction universe and solicitation game that has been in existence on the CBR boards for approximately ten years! It has gone through several iterations and has survived forum reboots! The way it works is that “plotters” write short solicitations for monthly comic books! Then participants “buy” the books they want to read! The books with the most buys get rewards. Sounds fun, right? So let’s do this! Which of this month's solicits interest and excite you? Let us know by posting which books you'd pick up in the virtual Next Dawn Store (this solicitation thread). You can pull as many as you'd like, but also consider your "virtual budget" when making your selections, as sales are used to reward our titles and plotters. Registers are open all month and sales are tallied at the end of the month.

Absolutely anyone can make purchases right here in this thread - so please do!. It’s free and is basically just saying “I’d read this” or “I like this!” So let us know!

If you want more information on Next Dawn or are interested in plotting yourself, please visit us at the Next Dawn Bullpen Thread.

    Behold! Our monthly archive!
This is the repository of our prior work; a compilation of all the monthly solicitation posts since the forum was reset in 2014.

    STARRO WARS #4
    Plot by EXCITER
Written by ROBERT KIRKMAN and MARK MILLAR
Art by FRANK CHO and JOE MADUREIRA
    “NO JUSTICE... JUST US”
The universe-shaking conclusion to Next Dawn’s first major line-wide event!!!
Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, the Flash, Green Lantern John Stewart, Steel, Aquaman, and the Martian Manhunter have taken the Javelin-7 into the heart of Starro’s swarm to face down the enormous five-pointed monster itself! But Starro’s legions are endless... and the Justice League’s focus is split!
Martian Manhunter and Aquaman strain to combine their telepathy and marine communication abilities to usurp control of the galaxy-spanning horde! They seek to push those that Starro mentally enslaved to attack and remove their brethren’s Starro spores, freeing them from control - but to do that, they must engage in a battle of wills with Starro deep within the creature’s own extremely-alien mindscape! What echinodermic horrors lie within?
While on that mental journey, it’s up to Superman, Wonder Woman, and the Green Lantern to defend their physical bodies from a galaxy’s worth of Starro-controlled assailants... but John Stewart’s ring is about to run out of energy!
Meanwhile, Vandal Savage and his own hand-picked team of metahumans followed the League and have a more... final plan for Starro: a weapon that will send a shockwave through the swarm - killing all the spores, but also causing fatal brain hemorrhages in at least fifty percent of those controlled. These acceptable loses to Vandal Savage are not acceptable to Batman, Steel, and the Flash! Can they stop the immortal killer and his “children” before quadrillions die?
This. Is. It. The action-packed end to STARRO WARS!

    BAT-WING #15
    Written By MALCOLM JONES
Art By DEXTER SOY *new artist!*
    Plot By MARVELL2100
    KILLIAN WAS HERE!
DRC Agent David Zavimbe and his U.S. counterpart Dakota Johnson are meeting with the CEO of Cadmus, Lena Killian. Killian is looking to invest in The Congo because of it's emergence as a tech hub. She wants to build a new R&D complex outside of the capitol but that requires a lot of land. Camdus is trying to buyout the locals to acquire the property but they have all refused. Lena was hoping to convince the DRC gov't to help her with her problem, promising jobs for the community as well as rewards for those that help her to accomplish her goals. But David is suspicious of Killians' motives(wouldn't you be?) and wonders why such interest in the DRC!
In Kiso, Kia comes face to face with Tasha al Ghul, the person behind the hi-tech guns flowing into The Congo. Tasha and Shadowlord take her on a ride out into the countryside far away from the city to a small secluded warehouse. Inside are more armed men and something else, two DRC police offers sitting on the floor tied to each other. Tasha tells Kia that this is just a little test that she needs to pass. Kill the police officers and prove to them that she's not an undercover cop! They give her a gun and Kia stands there with a difficult decision: kill the two officers to keep her cover or don't kill them, blow her cover and they all die!

    DC EXTENDED UNIVERSE #13
    Plotted by Clark_Kent
    Written by Dan Jurgens
Art by Dan Jurgens & Jay Oliva
    "Krypton Rises" Part Six
After what seemed like hours of battle, Superman finally subdues Faora. He knows they must act quickly if they are to contain her for long, so he meets with Batman for assistance. Professor Hamilton's drawings of Kryptonian symbols proves useful, however, as Batman is able to decypher some of it and discovers that the mother boxes can be used to activate a doorway to the Phantom Zone.
On Apokolips, Victor and Diana reach the armory. Here, Victor can plug into a power source strong enough to activate his Mother Box to send them home. Their stealth has not gone unnoticed, however...
Back on Earth, Arthur and Mera continue to work on the Phantom Zone devices. Meeting up with Superman and Batman, Mera notes that things are progressing too easily, to which Arthur agrees. Why did Faora plant devices that could be dismantled so easily? And...why is Faora laughing?
The device in Mera's hands explodes in light, sending the team flying! A Boom Tube opens! Victor and Diana appear, with dozens of Parademons chasing right behind them! The devices Faora was planting weren't Phantom Zone devices after all...they were Apokoliptian!

DEADLY HANDS OF CONNOR HAWKE #15
    Plotter: MARVELL2100
    Writer: JEFF LEMIRE
    Artist: ANDREA SORRENTINO
THE ASSOCIATION OF ASSASSINATION: THE LEFT HAND CLAN
While Connor is inside the Temple of Hao Shu Shin, Magus, Jax and Naomi are surrounded by dozens of ninja as they come face to face with the assassin Shiva, leader of The Left Hand Clan! It is a clan so dedicated, so deadly that each follower has cut off their right hand to show their loyalty to her. Even with one hand, they are some of the most feared fighters in the world! Shiva and Magus know each other as they were both members of The Guild but that will not stop her and her servants from carrying out their mission: anyone who enters the temple must die!
Inside, Connor listens as the bear known as Tse Shun(pronounced "say -shun"), tells him the story of The Guild, how in the beginning, they were the fierce defenders of China, protecting them from foreign powers who would corrupt and subjugate her people. But they were betrayed by the Zhou Dynasty who saw them as a threat to their own power. The Guild was nearly wiped out but a few escaped and went into hiding. The few survivors vowed never again to pledge themselves to a country and secretly declared war on all nations! They were responsible for assassinations, genocides and other heinous crimes throughout history.
Tse Shun tells Connor that there is a prophecy that says "One born of The Guild shall destroy The Guild". It was believed that Connors' father was to be the one. However, it was a mis-truth(fake news everywhere!). Connor's father was never the chosen one, that destiny belongs to him!

THE FLASH #15 *Starro Wars Tie-In*
    Plot by EXCITER
    Written by ROBERT KIRKMAN
    Art by FRANK CHO
    “FLASH IN THE PAN”
The Flash has never pushed his speed harder than on the warp treadmill than enabled the Justice League’s Javelin-7 spaceship to outpace most of Starro’s forces and get close enough to strike at the main echinoderm itself! Exhausted, he still can’t slow down!
While his team handles Starro, it’s up to Barry, alongside the grim vigilante Batman and the genius engineer Steel, to stop his old nemesis Vandal Savage from taking drastic measures to end Starro that would have the collateral consequence of killing half of everyone with a spore - which, by this point, includes both Iris West and his father, Henry Allen!
Flash fact: a Hemorrhagic Stroke occurs when a ruptured blood vessel causes bleeding inside the brain.
Standing in Flash's way are the hand-picked metahuman “descendants” of Vandal Savage: individuals with mighty powers indoctrinated into Savage’s radical human-supremacist ideology. One has a demonic claw. Two others are speedsters... speedsters that Barry is very familiar with. Hiawatha, swiftest Chief of the Onondaga, and Red Streak, the fastest Soviet alive! He met them both in the past (see THE FLASH #9 and #10), but how are they here now, why are they working with Savage, and can he possibly stop them both?!?
Meanwhile, with the League distracted, stowaway Gorilla Grodd escapes the Javelin. He hates both Savage and the Flash, so who will he strike at in their moment of weakness?
    32 PGs./Rated T+ …$2.99

GREEN LANTERN #15 Starro Wars Tie-In*
    Plot by EXCITER
    Written by MARK MILLAR
    Art by JOE MADUREIRA
    “OUT OF THEIR LEAGUE”
This is John Stewart of the Green Lantern Corps. We are about to make our last plausible strike against Starro. If you can, I call upon you now to fight. Hit Starro’s forces in your area with all you can muster. Distract it, buy us the time we need. Because if you can hear this broadcast... you’re part of the Corps now. Oorah.

John Stewart has to keep the Martian Manhunter and Aquaman alive while they telepathically fight Starro in the creature’s mindscape. He’s working with gods, Wonder Woman and Superman, but his ring is now completely depleted and powerless and he cannot recharge after the Central Battery was destroyed on Oa. A mere man cannot survive long against Starro’s legions, especially when they include mind-controlled powerhouses like Lobo. Good thing Stewart’s no mere man...he’s a United States Marine! The Javelin-7 spaceship was packed with conventional weapons, so it’s time to make his final stand!
This is Hal Jordan... of the Red Lantern Corps. Time to f*** s*** up!
Dealing with his own dead battery, Hal has swapped ring colors. Now a Red Lantern, he leads the rage-filled Corps head-on into Starro’s front lines as they advance on Earth. He’s got to buy time for the Justice League to do its thing, so the mission is kill echinoderms... or die trying!

    Plotted by Clark_Kent
    Written by Grant Morrison
    Art by Kenneth Rocafort
In these tales from Legends of the Multiverse, witness secret origins, unknown paths, and hints of the future!
    * First, learn the secret origin of the Slayers of Earth 4! Centuries ago, in what would later become Khandaq, the first vampire was born. Ancient mystics, working with the Wizard Shazam, looked to the future and saw a void of darkness...a world of the undead. To combat this threat, they created the vampire slayer and throughout the ages the "Slayers" hunted the vampiric forces throughout the world. Eventually, in the late 20th Century, the legendary Dracula was driven out of Europe to the Americas, to Gotham City, where he met a different creature of the night...
    * Then, travel with us as we reveal a secret path through the Multiverse! We know what awaits on Earth's 0 and 4, but what about the remaining Earths in the Orrery of Worlds? Just how many Earth's are there?
    * Finally, we look to the future, where snippets of things to come flash before us: Dominus rises....Objects of Power found, and lost....Legends in the DCEU?!? Henshaw's path continues here!

    OUTSIDERS #12 (you wouldn’t like Blockbuster when he’s angry…)
THE QUESTION #15 (I aspire to one day have what could fairly be described as a “lair” with “interesting items” inside)
STARRO WARS: CLAW THE UNCONQUERED #4
    STARRO WARS: RED LANTERN #4
STARRO WARS: STAR-CROSSED #3 (Starro Fhtagn!)
    TEEN TITANS #5 (Bozhe Moi!)
NEXT DAWN HALLOWEEN SPECIAL #2 (Spooktacular!)

    Adding to my pulls:

RED X: SEASON TWO #2 (I’m invested in this mystery)
SENSATION COMICS #15 (Civil wars are just good reading!)
Age of Marvels and DC Next Dawn - Monthly Fan Made Solicitation Competitions on these very forums, make your pulls now! Want back story? Check the Wiki!

STARRO WARS #4 (OK, I see the huge cast, the powerful adversaries, and the moral dilemma of "acceptable" casualties. What I don't get is how does this fit into a 32 page book and not a huge oversized conclusion?)
BAT-WING #15 (Doesn't the name Killian scream villian? I mean, come on.)
DC EXTENDED UNIVERSE #13 (I, for one, welcome my new empress, Faora.)
DEADLY HANDS OF CONNOR HANDS HAWKE #15 (Perhaps the title of the book is being taken a bit too literally?)
THE FLASH #15 *Starro Wars Tie-In* (Grodd has a heck of a choice here. Does he have a "Phone A Friend" option?)
GREEN LANTERN #15 *Starro Wars Tie-In* (Someone really needs to look at these green ring batteries. I'm going to go to Amazon and look at the comments for them and get a good laugh.)
LEGENDS OF THE MULTIVERSE: ANNUAL #1 (I wuv Secret Origins!)
OUTSIDERS #12 (Is there anybody who we like when they're angry? Somehow, that warning seems pretty obvious.)
THE QUESTION #15 (Might this also be kind of a Secret Origin for Vic? If only this Cleghorn Clown knew enough to use that name to sell his book.)
RED X: SEASON TWO #2 (The Bludhaven MoMA has a very nice gift shop. Unfortunately, it does NOT do mail order)
SENSATION COMICS #15 (It's tough to come up with a joke when the struggle and problems with fighting for peace present a real moral dilemma.)
STARRO WARS: CLAW THE UNCONQUERED #4 (I sense a battle between the modern day clone Claw {Clonaw? Clow?} and the original)
STARRO WARS: RED LANTERN #4 (Constipated Starfish f***ing scare the s*** out of me.)
STARRO WARS: STAR-CROSSED #3 (Can anyone use "cyclopean Antarctic city and the blasphemous monstrosities within" in actual common conversation?)
TEEN TITANS #5 (If any actual Titans are reading this, Siberia is actually quite nice in the summer. For a few hours anyway.)
NEXT DAWN HALLOWEEN SPECIAL #2 (It's amazing how much quicker and deadline meeting these artists and writers are after they die.)

    Here! We! Go!

STARRO WARS #4 -When you wish upon a Starro things will quickly end up bizarro!
BAT-WING #15 -David, David, David. You have got to learn to read women better!
DC EXTENDED UNIVERSE #13 -"Hello police? There's a Pair o' demons on my lawn"!
DEADLY HANDS OF CONNOR HAWKE #15 - Talking bears, ancient dynasties, deadly clans. What is this, Kung Fu Panda?
THE FLASH #15 *Starro Wars Tie-In* -Is Barry really faster than a shooting Starro? Bang! Bang!
GREEN LANTERN #15 *Starro Wars Tie-In* -In space, no one can hear you scream. Unless your name is John Stewart!
LEGENDS OF THE MULTIVERSE: ANNUAL #1 -Anyone have a copy of The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy? And I need an Uber!
OUTSIDERS #12 -Huntress and Blackfire, whatever you do, don't go to Roscoe's Rib Shack and Car Wash. The lines there are very long.
THE QUESTION #15 -A sword, a motorcycle and a bow. What else does a man need?
RED X: SEASON TWO #2 -Dick, how can we help you if you don't show up for therapy? You're still going to be charged though.
SENSATION COMICS #15 -We don't need your Civil War! It feeds the rich while it buries the poor!
STARRO WARS: CLAW THE UNCONQUERED #4 -The Claw! The greatest finishing move in wrestling!
STARRO WARS: RED LANTERN #4 -If I join the Red Lantern Corps, what kind of benefits are we talking about? Paid Holidays? Paternity leave?
STARRO WARS: STAR-CROSSED #3 -Schizophrenic Man: "I was all set to join Dr Fate's team until he invited Psycho-Man and Crazy Jane."
TEEN TITANS #5 -Why is it that no one visits Russia in the Summer? No, they always wait until Winter!
NEXT DAWN HALLOWEEN SPECIAL #2 -So I can't go Trick-or-treating tonight?

Happy Halloween to all, and I'd like 1 of everything please!
    "Darkseid...always hated music..."

Every post I make, it should be assumed by the reader that the following statement is attached: "It's all subjective. What works for me doesn't necessarily work for you, and vice versa, and that's ok. You may have a different opinion on it, but this is mine. That's the wonderful thing about being a comics fan, it's all subjective."
