I was watching a documentary so not sure how true it was but supposedly after Martin Goodman stepped down from Marvel, his spot was supposed to go to his son but Stan Lee went to talk to corporate or whoever and snatched the job. This pissed off Martin and he fought back by starting Atlas Comics, who was supposed to be superior to Marvel.

I was reading G.I.Joe at the time and wasn't familiar with the X-Men's or the term "Mutie" that I assumed this was a real PSA ad, because you know the drawing of the kids faces looked so real, LOL.
