Not surprises this issue but it was really cute...all of it...the art, the character moments, the dialogues, Doug issues.... I feel sorry for him.
A picture would last longer darling...

Av been saying this from day one Ilyana has a thing for the red eye, but it's coded.

Yeah, the rain talk sounds like some code between Captains.

Cyke and Magik continue the rain talk in Cable 5 which takes place afterward this. He asks if it looks like rain and she says it looks like it'll be coming down in daggers.

Yeah I actually got teary eyed when Krakoa was basically begging him to stay. By making death seem trivial for the first year of this era, it even has more weight than before.

Things hurt more when you take them for granted and then take them away.

I don't follow X-men closely and have been trying to catch up since Hickman's run has been getting acclaim, but I thought since Doug came back during Necrosha his deciphering abilities were expanded a lot to include more than just written and oral language. Seemed odd to make a big deal about him reading body language and not making bigger gains in picking up sword fighting.
It's acknowledged in this issue, I think they're just considering that swordfighting is a wholly different monster

This was a really great issue. Surprisingly made me very emotional at times. Brisson really ended on a high note.

Thank you sunofdarkchild for making this thread! I wanted to discuss the issue earlier but was too lazy to summarize.

This issue was pretty much perfect for me. Brisson's best issue yet, and Reis on art is always a treat!

My only "complaint" is I wish we would have seen more emotion from Illyana. Like she stated in the issue, they're family. Even if she wanted to stay strong in front of Doug, she could have wiped away a tear in private or something...I mean, she is convinced he is going to die.

And I always love when Magik & Cyclops interact, so between this & Cable #5....thumbs up!

Illyana's comment about how the Horsemen defeated Apocalypse so easily made me think of this

I hope he gets a better showing in the actual tournament.

    Apocalypse was caught off guard.

What I'm curious about Apocalypse in the tournament is whether he's going to be "100% full enraged at his kids and be a beast" or he's going to be hesitant to attack his own kids.

In Necrosha he didn't need any "practice" time to learn how how beat up all his old team mates. He just beat them all up. Quickly.

They should make the Doug copy now, before he heads to Otherworld then keep it unconscious. If he survives, they can always kill it off. Problem solved.

    Fun issue.
    >Illyana's the best big sister you could hope for... even with the whole 'beating you into competence' thing. She truly cares for Doug.
    >Krakoa painfully controlling Mondo is yet another reminder that the island can't be trusted to truly care about anyone but itself and its own interests (like Rahne, see below).
    >At least a data page explained that Doug and Warlock's stupid attempt at subterfuge was seen through by everyone... but wouldn't Doug have been able to tell they weren't buying it?
    >Exodus never fails to command every single scene he's in. I love him!
    >Not a Glob in sight! ^_^ Brisson's best issue!

    Favourite panels...

Exodus could have at least offered to telepathically download his sword fighting knowledge to Doug.
Rahne? No. Ew. No. She'd only care about how Doug dying would make her feel, not that Doug actually died.
I agree completely with everything else, though.

I thought so, too, then I remembered that he was dark magic and t.o. virus-infused at the time.

That raises a lot of ethical problems because in the event that Doug survives you would have to murder the other.

It's exactly the kind of thing Sinister does.
