Future State: Wonder Woman #1 Second Printing Cover
The first issue was SO.GOOD. Art was A+, all the characters introduced were fun....dont know why Diana cant get this good of a story in ages.
Yara Flor doesn't have the same liabilities. She's unknown we're learning about her, unlike someone we know so well. She doesn't have to be a paragon of virtue or some iconic symbol. She has more room to maneuver that's why it's not as easy to pull off such a purely fun story with Diana.
All the covers to Immortal Wonder Woman #1:
I disagree, it can be done with Diana...it's just rare that it gets to be done. Likewise it could have been easily done with Donna. Don't get me wrong, it was a fun start...but why couldn't this much effort have been put into Donna?
I love that Nubia is getting much needed love after so many years...Artemis has just come off an almost five year run of development and it looks like Hippolyta is going to get her chance to shine in the Justice League. So why couldn't Donna have been developed out better as the Future State Wonder Woman? Yes I know, the simple answer is they just didn't want to...unfortunately.
Having Donna wouldn't work with the theme they're going for. They seem to have moved away from the notion that the fab 5 are destined to replace the league in favor of their own stories (when they're not all dead in possible Futures for some reason...) As adult Titans.
This is most likely in part because of the desire to add more people of color to prominent roles.
A fantastic issue! The art was amazing and I was thoroughly entertained the whole way through. Was definitely not expecting the comical vibe. Easily the best of Future State week 1.
