"power does not corrupt, power always reveals."
Flash was originally rumored to be Owen Mercer. Maybe it is him from a universe where he has aboriginal ancestry.
Or maybe it's Godspeed with a new identity.
Don't know if this is the right thread to ask, but do you guys think the anthology format for some of the books in the line could be a test for the future? Like the main Batman book having a backup Batgirls book in it each month.
I think that could be a effective way to sell b and c level heroes whose own books don't sell that high.
The basic problem with anthologies is the price/desirable content ratio. Essentially, unless you want to read everything in the issue, you're only really going to want to pay for the part you *do* want to read. It's why they tend to work best as BIG books, like the manga serialisations of yore with a relatively low price/page ratio - if you don't like one story, that becomes a lot more palatable the smaller the part of the book it is and the lower the price you paid to get in. Selling twice the content for twice the price is a hard sell if you only want the Batman story.
(Also, straight backup stories tend to be hampered because a lot of modern US comic writers struggle to tell stories in 20-22 page chunks, and are hopeless at 8-10 page chunks.)
Off topic from the convo that is going on, but on my end the only buzz I've seen around old characters when it comes to Future State is in regards to John Stewart, and the only buzz I see in regards to the new characters is for Yara, Jo, Andy, Red X, and the flash who's a double amputee.
Well Luke's Batman and Jon's Superman have been talked about for months by now at this point.
Though now it seems like it may not be Luke. Some people think Batman might be Lucius other son, Tim, since Ridley still hasn't confirmed who is under the mask and the Joker War one-shot ends with a reference to him.
That is a possibility but it would be unfortunate to have two major members of the bat family both called Tim. Luke might also be a little old by Future State comes around.
Looking at the 5G tease from Doomsday Clock, it's interesting to see what was and wasn't meant to be a hint or foreshadowing.
Batwing's there. Aqualad's there. There's a black Wonder Woman so obviously not Yara Flor, but now we know that Nubia will be appearing in some capacity...
