I really don't get the tiny thing. It sometimes seems to hand in hand with infantilizing him in fic. Which happens to all of them to some degree (see all the de-aging and baby bats fics). Young Jason gets it, but then there's the crazy size on the "death certificate" despite the fact that we saw him with classmates and he was normal sized. Doesn't happen to grown Jason, though. Also, lots of abused!Tim there. That's not made it into canon as far as I know. Yes, his parents were inattentive for years, but he was fed, clothed, and in a nice warm boarding school, not freezing and left with no food in the house then beaten by his elitist, racist, homophobic parents when they came home.

It's "precious cinnamon roll" syndrome, a fandom infantilizes a character they think "needs to be protected at all" cost and starts giving them angsty headcannons.

Would be nice to see the titular Talon again, even if he's looking a bit more edgy (how can one even make a Talon more edgy?) and unhinged than he typically is.

So I guess Future State will actually impact current stories or at least Batman, because apparently we are going to see the Magistrate origins. And apparently a second Batman by Tynion in March.

this makes me even more excited about Future State overall to be honest. I might even check out some of the other stuff if it looks like they could start making some of these concepts concrete.
THE SIGNAL (Duke Thomas) is DC's secret shonen protagonist so I made him a fandom wiki

also, check out "The Signal Tape" a Duke Thomas fan project.

    currently following:
    • DC: Red Hood: The Hill
    • Marvel: TBD
    • Manga (Shonen/Seinen): One Piece, My Hero, Dandadan, Jujutsu Kaisen, Kaiju No. 8, Reincarnation of The Veteran Soldier, Oblivion Rouge, ORDEAL, The Breaker: Eternal Force

Same. Feels hype. Now that we had the big seminal Joker event, we can really get going into some fun things!

Well, as expected, they will take characters, ideas for their plots. The same will happen with Yara for sure.

I was kind of wondering if the anti-vigilante direction for present-day Gotham was leading to Future State. I'm curious when things will swerve back.

I wonder if Tynion's new book is Batman and Robin with Tim. I don't think it's going to be Luke.

Punchline becoming Harper's nemesis? Tynion pitting his two characters together and keeping Bluebird relevant? Okay.

I’m hoping this means Harper becomes bluebird again, maybe Harper being in young justice inspired Tynion.

I guess Harper going after Punchline as Bluebird would give her something to do rather than just being another Gotham vigilante.

That is not really new since it was something explained by the Batman editor during his interview with Newsarama when Future State was revealed

"With the Bat group title, it's definitely a look towards the future," Abernathy says. "How much of that future is true is uncertain, because decisions in the present can always change the future. On one hand, yes they're great standalone stories but the seeds... wait, 'Future State' doesn't plant seeds; it's already crop-grown. The seeds are already planted; these stories will come to fruition in the main line."
Also, Tynion also emphasizes on the fact how Future State is just a possible future and is not actually set in stone

You'll be reading a lot about The Magistrate, and a character named Peacekeeper One in those Future State books, but it won't be until March and beyond that you see their origins in the real, present-day Gotham City. Future State is meant to be a glimpse into a possible future of the DCU, filled with lots of easter eggs that will hint at (but not bind) the direction of the line moving forward.
So yeah, we're back at Future State being Convergence/Future's End 2.0 where if it sells it will get followups beyond the two months but if doesn't grab's people attention it will be quietly pushed aside.

Interesting. I didn't think much of Future's End, and entirely missed Convergence.

Actually Future's End left me sour when they killed Kate, after turning her into a brainwashed vampire, and making her twin sister the hero. It was like an F-you to Kate fans. Really not keen on how Future State is looking like it could be doing something similar with Jason and Damian (but at least they won't be vampires!).

Harper I don't really care about either way, but her fans finally have something to look forward after a long gap, so that's good for them.
